TheWizzard Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Guys I got an idea which will bring down the temps of the chipset, gpu and cpu enormously I have a mini fridge in which i drilled 2 holes for the hosebarbs. I'll use it as a reservoir. In this way the water which goes into the circuit of the waterflow will be considerabley cooler. Actually you don't need a radiator anymore. But i'll use it anyways. The temps of the cpu, gpu and nb will drop considerably due to this. If all goes well i'm ready to test tonight. I'll keep you updated. TheWizzard Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 True true, but till now i haven't seen any proof that it works. Haven't done any research about it, to be honest.
$anka Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 on the telenet forum (something from belgium) are there some ppl who did that already. and it works, as long as your fridge is strong enough

lowfat Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Sorry but i don't think its going to work. The compressor inside a fridge isn't meant to be used 100% of the time and chances are will burn out quickly. If you really want to get into water chilling, there is a whole subforum on OC forums that deals with phase change / waterchilling. XS forums also has a forum on water chillers. timpanogos Posted July 4, 2005 Posted July 4, 2005 Since I already have a 1.25 gallon reservior, I also was real interested in trying this... Heck could cool beer as well as water ... but read here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...ght=mini+fridge I believe everyone ends up finding that the fridge can not keep up with the constant heat source. That's why everyone ends up with modified window mounted AC units. Another thing to consider ... as soon as you are below room temp, you have to start dealing with condensation protection. I'm real temped to go for the ac unit some time ... Check out this guys way of dealing with condenstion!! http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showth...hlight=airtight I think if I ever go for chilled W/C I'll go this this case also!!
