OceanSeasforMe Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 I just cant wait for round two and my second DFI build. *(This one is MINE ~! Arr) I have orderd this so far : Logitech X-530 70 Watts 5.1 Speaker, Ultra d nf4 / 939/ 2.0 winchester / thermaltake case. If the weekend is good to me financially, I will probably order most of this on Tuesday if I have the time. If not then I will keep searching and see what prices I can beat and order it next week. *(this is our busiest time of the year and I am in eat sleep work mode.) If you know of / see any better prices / pcs then let me know please. I am shooting for a mild oc, nothing crazy. I would like a 500 dollar Vid card & cpu, but that is not an option at present. Current exp $496.00 Planned additionional spending (shipping not factord) $997.61 Approx total build cost =$1493.00 so far. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227211 OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail136.95-15(MAIL) $121.95 Model #: OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=360223 Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer Limited Edition Retail ***Free 2nd Day*** $99.69-30 ($30.00 Mail-In-Rebate) $69.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152047 NEC Black 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE DVD Burner - OEM $41.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16821103116 SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model MPF920 Black - OEM $10.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814125171 GIGABYTE GV-RX80256D Radeon X800 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $236.00 -$30 (MAIL in) $206.00 ***w/1 Dsub http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822145088 HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 HDT722516DLA380 (0A31637) 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA II Hard Drive - OEM $86.00 ea X2 $172.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817104155 OCZ ModStream OCZ52012U ATX 520W Power Supply Retail $90 *(after $15 mail in rebate) Model #: OCZ52012U http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835109119 THERMALRIGHT XP-90 Heatsink 36.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835100007 Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound $7.99 ( i have ceramique and stock tc) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827136058 LG Beige 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE CD Burner $22.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835150007 MASSCOOL FD08025S1M4 80mm Sleeve Cooling Fan $1.99 * 10 = $10.00 w free shipping, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811999002 SUNON KD1209PTB2 92mm Ball Cooling Fan $5.49 * 2= $10.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16824001166 w/Dsub imput SAMSUNG 997DF-T/T 19" CRT Monitor 0.20mm Dot Pitch 15-Pin D-Sub $199.99 I am kinda worried about the vid card and the xp-90. davidhammock200 Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 ModStream 520W will work & the XP-90 is an excellent choice. I recommend a 92mm Panaflo 48/57/68 CFM. Good Luck, Dave EDIT: The XP-90 is only $25 at Jab-Tech & SVC.

3 Posted July 3, 2005 Posted July 3, 2005 It's a good system, and that is simply THE BEST ram, but I would suggest you get a 6800GT, because they support shader model 3, and currently, the ATI X series does not. There are a number of upcoming games and mods that will be using SM3, but I don't remember them all, I know that there is a mod coming out for half life 2 that uses it, and if you have ati, you cant run it. Also, get a leadtek 6800gt if you do get one, because they are the best overclockers. EDIT-- I see you are looking at a winchester core, not good. If you want to overclock and have an all around better CPU, get a venice core, and if you have the $$$, then get a san diego core. OceanSeasforMe Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Revised order please advise. I will pull the trigger on it in the morning if weather keeps us from working. *(if not then tomorrow evening.) All but the memory is in stock. Being as there are no comperably priced equivalents with dfi forum support I may have to wait till its est ETA: 7/11/2005 9:38:00 AM restock and order it. *(and I have the mobo and cpu in my grubby hands and its killing me to not have it running.) I could and do have 100 left over I could use to get a different memory, but I was wanting to apply it twords a new monitor. *(cuase my only spare display is 2 color and I will have to press it into service till I order another...) ____________________________________________ http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/m..._Code=ATI-PCI-E ATI (Connect3D) Radeon X800 XL 256MB DDR/PCI-E/TV-Out/VGA/DVI 249$. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227211 OCZ Gold Series 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail136.95-15(MAIL) $121.95 Model #: OCZ4001024ELDCGE-K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16821103116 SONY Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy Drive Model MPF920 Black - OEM $10.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152039 NEC Beige 16X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 4X DVD+R DL 16X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 24X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE DVD Burner - OEM 39.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827136058 LG Beige 52X CD-R 32X CD-RW 52X CD-ROM 2M Cache IDE CD Burner $22.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817104155 OCZ ModStream OCZ52012U ATX 520W Power Supply $105.00 http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?...N82E16835109119 THERMALRIGHT XP-90 Heatsink $36.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835180052 Panasonic Panaflo FBA09A12H -1BX 92mm Hydro Wave Cooling Fan - 11.75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822145082 HITACHI Deskstar 7K80 HDS728080PLA380 -0A30356 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA II Hard Drive $60.00 * 2 = $120.00 a pair. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16812101203 AMC 8" 4-Pin Power Cable Splitter Model Y Power Cable - $8.00 __________________________________________________________ I know this wont be anything to set any records, but it will have to do as its what I can afford. I am trying to feed it premium parts as best I can..... so the monitor will have to wait a week or two. And the Kargen will have to do for now.... 3 Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 It looks great, except for the video card. I would get a 6800GT (made by Leadtek) if I were you, because it supports Shader Model 3 where as the current radeon X series does not. SM3, is one thing that will make a big difference. There are a number of games and mods that use it, and a bunch of them coming out that will use it. I don't know the names of all of them, but I do know that a mod for half life 2 will use it, and so will games based on the upcoming unreal3 engine. Erekosse Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Just curious why you are opting for 2 80GB drives for $120. The HITACHI Deskstar T7K250 0A31636 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA II Hard Drive - OEM is available for $123 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822145087). Well, I was going to run in raid 0 because (in my mind I think) it will be a tad faster ? Also if one dies, I have a spare EDIT: I am not a huge gamer, I play a few but not a lot and not often, still going with the ati and not the nvida. Fire-N-Ice Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 IMO,....The 6600GT or 6800(any) is better than the x800. If you're going to be burning alot of cd and or dvd's maybe get one's with 8mb cache, they are usually about 15 bucks more but worth it (helps prevent write errors, faster, and prevents skipping while watching a dvd). Are you going to use those hard drives in a raid config? If not get 1 bigger one instead of 2 smaller ones. Get a venice not a winchester.
