Vapor Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 This is soo frustrating, its been a month and a half ive had this comp and its nothing but problems getting this to go smoothly I flashed bios to 615 but prior to flashing bios i attempted to install windows, right after formating hd's when its copying all the files before the actually installation of windows or the reboot to install windows it gives me *cannot copy idecoi.dll* this is when i took it in to a friend at geek squad Lol. So he tried another windows xp pro cd, gave us the same error cant copy that file. So i flashed bios to 615 ..... Same error????? I know i flashed it right i entered in disk, restarted it auto flashed for me, i restarted went into bios and loaded optimal preformance? So any ideas why its doing this??? Plz someone help me ! Should i just skip that file? You don't understand i have this machine just sitting here and im drooling to get it to run! Oh and for me to check which bios is loaded which im almost positive my flashing worked where can i located the version of bios... Not really important... Hymn Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 do you have anything overclocked? or any voltages set upward?.. if so those could be your problems. Tom
indie24 Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 its to do with your mem settings. Have u run memtest to see if any errors come up? also try with loose timings just to get windows to install and then u can tweak. also set ur dram voltage to 2.
Vapor Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 ok i havnt overclocked at all or anything turned up, so i will put my voltage to 2.8v but im not sure how to loosen my timings. My ram stock i think is 2.2.2.5? no idea how to loosin them up. I will run memtest though.
Hymn Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 its possible the memory timings are set loose as i have experienced recently . when your running memtest, it will show your timings. find them out and give us a hoot. Tom
Vapor Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 ok i will do that, you guys dont understand how frustrating this is i just want my new computer to work !
col Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 You've got a very similar setup to me! I got mine to run by setting DRAM strength to 3 Disabled External cache. I'm running 310.
Vapor Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 so you had the same problem? When u say strength do you mean voltage? ok i will try that then.
Hymn Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 no no no, he says DRAM Strength... its in an option in the bios when you go into the DRAM settings area you will find it.
col Posted July 1, 2005 Posted July 1, 2005 Yes - thats DRAM STRENGTH. Changed from Auto to 3. Gleaned both tips from the threads here. I was getting random errors during XP install. Made those changes and system has been stable since. Everything else is on standrad setting. I have no idea what those two things do - or even if both are necessary but they worked for me. I'm leaving alone now until the system has been stable for at least 2 weeks.
Vapor Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Ok while im installing windowsxp pro right after quick formating it goes through the copying of the files before it reboots and installs winxp it says cannot copy IDECOI.DLL . Some guy with the same setup said he changed Dram strength to 3 from auto so i did but i noticed there was dram drive strength and dram data drive strength. So i tried both individually each option, then both at the same time while going back and trying to install giving me the same error . Col also said he changed external cache to disabled so i did that to. Still copy that file?? I ran memtest86 on mb 3 passes 0 errors.... Hymn you wanted to know what my timings are - It's running at 2-3-2-5 which was advertised at 2-2-2-5.. anyways.... Sooooo hmmm what is the problem? Someone also sasked if i had my voltages set upward? I just bought my new psu and didnt switch anything ? What should i look for , it does have those little adjusters in the back but i didnt touch it... Do i need to losen my timings? If so can someone explain how? This is my last guess to what i need to do... soo any more ideas? I'm at that point where i will pay someone to make my computer work this is my first real comp and ive had it not working for 1 almost 2 months now I really love this Motherboard but its such a pain hehe..... __________________
Sharp Posted July 2, 2005 Posted July 2, 2005 Hello, Remove BIOS 615 right now (it is not safe). Go to BIOS 310. Make sure you clear the CMOS for 10mins after the Flash. (PC off when you do this) Corsair modules = potential problem. Using the ORANGE slot after the BIOS flash, Set the memory voltage to 2.7v DRAM Frequency Set (MHZ).............200 (DRAM/FSB:1/01) Command per clock (CPC)...............Disabled Cas latency (tCL)...........................2 RAS to CAS delay (tRCD)..................3 Min RAS active time (tRAS)...............6 Row precharge time (tRP)..............3 Row cycle time (tRC)......................11 Row refresh cycle time(tRFC)..........14 Row to Row delay (tRRD).................3 Write recovery time (tWR)...............2 Write to read delay (tWTR)...............1 read to write delay (tRWT)...............1 Refresh period (tREF).......................AUTO Write CAS latency (tWCL)..................1 DRAM Bank Interleave............Enabled DQS Skew Control.............................Decrease Skew DQS Skew Value................................0 DRAM Drive Strength..........................AUTO DRAM Data Drive Strength..................AUTO Max Async Latency.............................6ns Read Preamble Time...........................5ns Idle Cycle Limit...................................AUTO Dynamic Counter................................Enable R/W Queue Bypass.............................AUTO Bypass Max.........................................AUTO 32 Byte Granularity.............................Disable(8 Bursts) See what happens. Run memtest for a few hours, 3 (8 it you have the time, you should make the time to do this)
