bigmit37 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Hey guys I am pretty much a novice when it comes with building computers. This is my first build and I really don't know much about bios. So you have to make things very simple. I tried installing windows and I ran into that message. I was told to restart and try again or do it in safe mode. I am going to try that out soon. I was told to put up my voltage to 2.8 from 2.6 for my ram under genie bios. I attempted it but for some reason everytime I did so it would go back to 2.6...Not sure if I am supposed to make another change to allow this volatage change to occur. My mb is nf4 ultra-d Gcard- 6600 gt CPU- 3500 AMd PSU- 450 OCZ RAM- OCZ dual channel 1 gig ( on slots 2 and 4) Thank you
oliveryochest Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 what bios version are you using???? you can locate the bios by booting up and looking at the bottom left hand corner. It will have a date. That is your bios. The PSU your using is not a minimum of 480W. Are all four connectors connected to the mobo???? Did you qualify your memory by running memtest???? Did you try by using only one stick of memory in slot 2? Its the orange slot furthest away from the CPU
bigmit37 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 OK well i restarted the computer and its says "verfying DMI pool data........" its been like that for like 8 minutes now....Do I have to just wait it out? I only have 3 connectors to the motherboard from the psu....20+4 for the 24 and the 4 pin in front of the 24.... I didnt run memtest yet...Do I just burn it onto a cd and then run it from a cd? I haven't tried the one ram stick either...I guess I will try that as soon as this message goes away...

You need a minimum 480W native PSU and all four connectors should be plugged into the mobo.http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10854 and please make a sig with all components including bios version. Thats info we need.. Go to your UserCPEdit Signature..... and save it
Worm Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Hi bigmit37, Your Stop error 0x0000000A (IRQ_NOT_LESS....etc) indicates that the BIOS is not configuring the components properly. To fix this problem, download the v615 BIOS to your own machine, direct download link here and run the NF4LD615.exe file. Make sure there's a blank floppy in the drive beforehand. It will write an image to the floppy to include command.com, the latter of which you need to boot up with. Leave the floppy in the machine and reboot. The flashing process is completely automatic and requires no user intervention on your part. Also, leave the name of the file as NF4LD615.BIN in the grey field that you'll see when the BIOS upgrade procedes. Once the flashing process completes, eject the floppy and reboot. Go into the BIOS by hitting DEL a few times while the LANPARTY logo is on the screen and then load "Optimized Defaults". Hit F10 to save & exit. If you don't propose to install RAID, go into the BIOS setup once more and then go to the GENIE BIOS menu. Scroll down to the option called Sil SATA RAID and change the setting to Disabled. F10 to save and exit once more. When the BIOS logo appears again, go back into the setup and in the Advanced menu (second one, top left), change the boot sequence to CDROM as first boot device and hard drive as second. F10 to save and exit again. After the LANPARTY logo disappears, you'll see a message appear along the bottom of the screen which says "To boot from CDROM, hit any key...". Hit Enter at this juncture and the Windows setup screen should appear. You don't have to install a SATA driver because the nForce4 chipset supports it natively. As regards the Win XP installation, you should perform all the steps in the correct order, as follows: 1. Windows XP with SP2 (this also installs DirectX 9.0c) 2. Chipset drivers & hardware firewall (on the CD that comes with the motherboard) but preferably download the latest versions from here 3. Video drivers 4. Audio drivers (also on the CD if you're using the Karajan sound component) 5. All other drivers. Hit Windows logo key + Pause/Break to take you to System Properties, click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button. Make sure there are no yellow/black exclamation marks anywhere. To check the system further, go to Start --> Run, type msinfo32 and click OK. In the left hand menu, expand "Hardware Resources" and then click the IRQs link. If it reports OK for every IRQ, then the system is installed properly. If you need anymore assistance, don't be afraid to ask. bigmit37 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Whoa thanx for the indepth reply...I guess I need a floppy drive then...Well I am going to order a new floppy drive and a new power supply tomorrow morning... Do you have any suggestions as to which is the best power supply for around 80-90 bucks? Or should I just get the one that was recommended in this forum (550 watts)? `clipse Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 why cant he just use award flash? i dont understand how there is a difference in danger between award flash in windows and doing it from a floppy.
Fire-N-Ice Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 what you have in the board really is only 2 connectors the 20+4 connector is 1 connector, and should be 24 pin NATIVE psu, no adaptors. Read the manual, better yet goto dfi website & read the up to date manual, about where to connect ALL 4 power connectors to the board, along with the power connectors for fans. Probably wouldn't hurt to read anything else in there!
Worm Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 why cant he just use award flash? i dont understand how there is a difference in danger between award flash in windows and doing it from a floppy. As I understand it, he can't get into Windows. But in any event, flashing the BIOS from DOS is much safer because the operating system isn't being loaded. OzSnoal Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Silly question, bigmit, are you pressing F10 to 'save and exit' the bios when you make the changes? If you don't do that you will lose you 2.8V setting and it will revert back to what it was.
blaza Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I had this kind of BSOD rubbish when I had my 2 Kingston HyperX sticks on dual channel. When I removed/put the other stick to use single channel, then all worked fine and no BSOD's anymore. So try to remove the second memory stick of yours and boot up, if it works with you to then you know what to do. Just give it a try and tell me did it work.
