BIOS setup question

Recommended Posts

Briefly -

Does anyone know if BIOS 3.10 on my DFI Lanparty nF4 Ultra-D should be able to recognize an internal ATAPI Zip 750 drive?

In detail -

I posted the other day that I had a sudden detection array problem that would not allow the computer to boot. I had a Zip 750 connected as the secondary IDE master drive (only drive hooked to the secondary IDE slot). The solution was to disconnect my internal Zip drive from the mobo altogether. The computer booted fine after that. My other work around has been to turn off autodetection to the secondary IDE master while the Zip is connected but now WindozeXP does not recognize the drive.

Why does the BIOS try to detect an array if both the primary IDE master (my dvd-rw) and secondary IDE master (my Zip 750) are hooked up and autodetection is turned on to detect both drives?

I did not install the RAID drivers and I removed the nvidia IDE drivers as suggested by another poster. The BIOS still insist on detecting array if both drives connected and set to autodetect. Will updating to 5/10 BIOS help with this situation? I’m at a loss here folks. Any insight appreciated.

well, nothing specific on the ide, but I did have some plug-n-play issues on the bios detecting a parallel io card - it was not until I moved to the 5-10 bios that the bios detected this card correctly

moral of story ... you might try the latest bios - 6-23-x and see if it makes a difference
