Snook Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hi, I need some general advice. I am getting the DFI LP SLI DR and the OCZ VX later today to go along with my 3700+ SD. (I am replacing an aus An SLI D and some corsair XMS) I’m a bit confused as to which bios is the latest and most stable. Is the top one here the best to go for right now? http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/bio..._FLAG=A&SITE=UK And should I use the ‘Diamond Flash Image for BIOS’ or the standard one? I guess the ‘Diamond Flash Image for BIOS’ would be easier after reading this… http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/mb_faq_us1.j...TYPE=US&SITE=US Thanks Snook
Guest burningrave101 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I would try the 510-2 and 618-2 BIOS versions for VX memory.
suio Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Recommend starting with 310 (comes with the MB). Install memory sticks in orange slots 2 and 4. Use the Diamond Flash Image for BIOS. It will create a bootable floppy disc for you.
Snook Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Cheers guys. I'll stick with 310, and then when i get things settled i'll try 510 and 618. Also I read -1 is for TCCD -2 bh5, utt -3 all others/general What do the numbers at the end mean? Do i select them during the reflash? Thanks again Snook EDIT and where would I download these other bios' 510/618??
Guest Shibby Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 The numbers are different versions of the BIOS. For example, you can download 510-1, 510-2, or 510-3...they are slighty different. The guide you posted is very rough...different users have better or worse experiences with different versions. It seems like a lot of people are happy with 510-2 for TCCD (TCC5) ram, for example. Try them all. I'm going to be testing them all out shortly as well for myself when I get some spare time, which is rare these days. digitaal Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Is this ram TCCD? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820146890 So i would choose 510-1 ?
Guest Shibby Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 That's TCC5, it's just a newer 'version' of TCCD. I've seen people using that RAM on all 3 BIOS's. Any may work best for you, any may cause instability. Starting with 510-1 is a decent idea, but be prepared to spend some time tweaking and trying the other ones.
