charlie22911 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Lon3r, sent u PM. trevor, gmail is googles free email that sports over 2Gb storage space, has no ads (mabye 1 text ad at the most) and is VERY good at blocking spam, i love it. you can only get it if you have an invite to it by someone who has it already. EDIT: 48 left.

Cooler Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 ... you can only get it if you have an invite to it by someone who has it already. Actually, there's been random offers of GMail for users searching via Google, too. Some thoughts: Why would anyone need 2GB of e-mail storage? I can't imagine anyone receiving actually gig or two worth of e-mails daily! For file transfers there are better ways than attaching to e-mails. For archieving e-mails... well, what's wrong with local backups which are faster to reach anyways? Only reason I can find for GMail is better e-mail accessibility while traveling. Another than that and some weird geek factor, is there any reason for using GMail at all?

Now that everyone had uber high speed connections they dont even realize that they sent you 60MB of pics. With some serveces you are cut off unless you immedatly catch this. The main thing fo me is that it is more user frendly than others and you can search you email get 300 emails a month or more and you know what I mean. It is great not having to compress photos and it is far easer to simply sleave things on email than carry around a data stick. At work some of our computers dont even have a HDD. It is far easer to avoid viruses that way.
