No Stability

Hello everyone I have just recently put together a new rig (see sig) and I am having stability problems with it even with the mildest OC.

I have followed the instructions in the guide at the top of this forum and found a Happy max CPU freq at 238X11 but as soon as introduce the memory to the CPU at 1:1 with the 2-2-2-8 timings memtest stable for over 2 hours I know i should let it go longer. WHen I boot to windows all the stability tests fail I've slackened memory timings lowered the HTT Raised Vdimm adjusted all the timings I could and still no luck

Maybe it is the bios I had 1/25 originally I think and it seemed alot more stable It actually did 32m of superpi at 235X11 1:1 ldt/fsb 5X 1175 I thought was a bit high but seemed to run along very well without instabilities memory timings were 2-2-2-6 At 3.1V then I flashed to 3/10 bios and then I could get no consistent results at all so I tried 6/18-2 for a short while it showed promise and then the consistency of stability crapped out as well.

Another theory I have is that my 3700+ San Diego doesn't want to play nice with the OCZ PC4000 Gold VX. Maybe someone out there with a similar combo would like to give me a little helpful advice maybe even just the Bios you are using to get this memory to work well with the San Diego That would be extremely helpful I am running 3-3-3-8 with optimized defaults @ 200 mhz I didn't spend 320$CAD for this ram to run at value ram speeds.

Maybe I got bad ram how are ocz with warranty they've only been in my machine for 5 days.

Anyway I'm all stressed out any help will be much appreciated.

If im reading right I thin you are saying you are runing 235 x5 so I think that is making your HTT bus too high ... try lowering to x4 .... i got away with running it a 220 x5 now at 250 x4

if you aren't catching on im saying keep it as close to 1000 as you can (2000 w/ DDR) ... i assume this would have been in the A64 OC guide ... but i haven't read the whole thing

So i would say drop that down and if that doesn't look here

Look at Post #10 there in the OC Database .... looks like the same CPU & RAM ... maybe you can try some of his settings or message hime if you can't get it running

Thanks man I tried his bios and some of his settings last night no dice, then i went about slackening and tweaking settings still no luck at all. I've tried the 4X multiplier on many occasions with many settings because I know it should be as close to 1000 as possible there was a glimmer of hope with the higher HT that faded quickly.

My Max CPU according to the guides tests is just at around 2.6 So I figured I'd try 250X10 with a 4X ldt/fsb in 2-3-2-8 timing 3.3v no luck at all. This ram is the problem I think, it just won't do what it's supposed to do as soon as introduce the ram to the cpu above 200mhz it falls apart no pi no ntune benches god forbid you run prime95 torture test.

Thanks for the Help I'm gonna try a few more things and then when there is no doubt in my mind the ram is going to OCZ and hopefully it will be replaced with some good sticks.

Thanks Playah but yeah as I read your post My luck has seemed to change I am getting very promising results now the change to Bios 510-2 seems to have helped also I switched the 4.0VDIMM jumper back as well because I read somewhere it could be a cause of instability. I'm now running sideless with a 92 mm fan temporarily blowing at the ram modules (78cfm) I have to build some sort of bracket now so I can put the side back on my case my graphics card is running much hotter without the window fan blowing on it.

I jumped the gun a little but I was Having a horrible time before absolutely Horrible now its better hopefully it stays that way.

Vdimm 3.2 2-3-2-10 timings and various other tweakings on some of the lesser timings tref is still a mystery to me though. 235X11 2585mhz OCCT stable priming tonight when I go to bed wish me luck.
