You should try it. It is the only way you will know.

I have seen all the possibilities, in various post regarding 618 bios and the cold boot fix:

- yes, it fixes it!

- no, it doesn't!

- and it fixed it, until now...

Bottom line, try it yourself and see.

For you shutdown problem, download UPHClean from Microsoft, link here The problem is caused by the system not releasing memory when you log off.

As to the cold boot problem, as others have mentioned, v615 should fix your problem, direct download link here Make sure there's a blank floppy in the drive when you run the exe. It creates a bootable floppy automatically.

Currently using 615 Bios. Still having cold boot. My interesting findings and procedures t cure cold boot partially.

2 sticks of TwinMos SP UTT 256mb X 2

a.)When I install two sticks of my RAM into orange slot in dual channel mode. Long beep-----

B) When I install two sticks of my RAM into yellow slot in dual channel mode. Long beep......

c) When I install one stick in yellow slot and one in orange slot. Long beep.......

d) When I install one stick in yellow slot and one stick in yellow slot, too after installing in the orange slot previously. My comp managed to boot up in overclocking status. But when I unplug the core and replug it back. Long beep.......

Thus, I have to keep to the procedures above when doing oc and do not unplug my power core. Guess I have to live with cold boot.

Your choice - I wouldn't.

How sure are you that you can trust it in the long term? Or the next time you turn on your PC that it'll boot? The pain, suffering and the insecurity of every time you turn on your machine is just not worth it.
