Kamel Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 hey, i was wondering... this is kinda like a blessing and a curse at the same time. i got a mobile xp2600 and it overclocks to 250x9.5 toasty stable at only 1.65vcore. i was hoping to get like 250x10.5 or even 250x11 out of this thing once all was said and done because of such a great oc at 1.65, but i haven't been able to figure it out yet. one thing that is quite confusing is, i couldn't run stable at 250x10 unless i was at 1.85 before, and it had some weirdness problems. i figured as long as temps were fine (and they were, highest it ever got was 120F) i could go to 2.0 volts vcore and maybe get something amazing like 250x11 out of it. unfortunately, it didn't seem very stable, but i could do a lot of things like play bf2 for a good while at 250x11 with no problems... i'll investigate the weirdness, i had a problem with everything freezing, but the mouse pointer would still work, heh. now i just now thought, i got a new excellent PSU, and water cooling now, i can probably do this -- so i thought, well, if it hits 250x9.5 at 1.65vcore, it might hit 250x10 at 1.75 vcore. doing the testing now, it's doing it perfectly, no errors at all... of course i haven't tried for an extended amount of time or anything though. what i find interesting is, 1) this chip goes to 250x9.5 at 1.65vcore and 2) 250x10 at 1.75vcore seems more stable than 250x10 at 1.85vcore. i'm going to tinker around with it more and see what happens, i may end up getting even better overclocks by lowering the voltage i think my question was though, has anyone else gotten a mobile proc that did these sorts of things? red930 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 What's the stepping and date, have you used prime overnite or OCCT torture for a couple hrs yet to verify stability? On my xp-m2600 IQYHA 0351,I was prime stable at 1.9vcor 46c load @2650MHZ,any attempts to use more vcor resulted in reboots from windows environment
Kamel Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 the 250x9.5 at 1.65vcore is 100% stable, tested overnight with prime, toaster certified and everything. 32 memtest passes. i haven't found stable settings over that though, they seem to be stable but not at the same time, i'm trying to think of ways to get it stable. it seems like there's a very indirect change in stability with my voltage, when i add more voltage it increases the overclock of course, and increases the stability in a way, but it also decreases the stability in a way. my comp has been crashing a lot lately regardless, so i can't really stress test it properly. i need to reinstall windows bad (i got some nasty nasty spyware) i'll report back with what i find tho. Kamel Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 i don't know what the vdd is o_O yea, i am thinking a lot of my probs are caused by instability. i plan to get everything reformatted in new clean underwear by tomorrow. i want to make a dual boot between windows and linux too. Shinobi Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I got my 2500+ upto just under 2.6ghz with 1.8vcore, Prime Stable(thats what i used for my Overclock Database Entry and Toaster). I did 2.5ghz with 1.7, but for everyday use i run 225 x11 with 1.7. Haven't tried taking it any higher because my temps were getting way high with my Volcano12... Anyway, just installed a Thermalright SP-97 so will be attempting to take it further once my AS5 application has had time to burn in... My stability has improved even more now i have better cooling and far better quality ram and it seems a lot more stable at lower voltages. How long have you had that 2600 Kamel? If you can post your steppings then that might help... What are your temps like at 1.85vcore now your on water? What watercooling kit are you using?
