How to do load lastest Bios

Recommended Posts

zac1, first off, you need to set up your signature, showing your system.

Why do you want to update? I would not suggest updating at all, unless you have a reason. DO NOT update anything unless you understand and have a reason to. Currently DFI only has one "official" version that you should consider if you are not there ... that's the 3-10 version, found on their home page site in tw.

Most of the bios at the link I gave you are "BETA" and officially will void your warrently if you go to them .... once again, understand the issues and why you want/need to move ... don't just jump because they are the lattest.

This is why mate!!!!!

I have a Dfi landparty nf4 sli-dr motherboard.

I have had it now for about 20 days and had 3 different pc engineers look at my rig to try and get it going.

I still cannot get Sli to work with 2 x BFG 6800 ultras, so I sent them back thinking it was the cards.

I now have a BFG 7800 which came today.

I put it in to top Pci slot and set the jumpers to one card and still no joy, machine starts but no desk top screen.

So I put it in to bottom Pci slot and then it worked but it takes 4-5 times for it to stop crashing on me and sending me to safe mode.

I have now been told that they think to mobo is faulty and want me to send it back but it is costing me a fortune for someone to take it apart and put it back togeather again.

I just wondered if any of you can shed any light on it for me.

I am new to all this HELP????.

My Rig.

Get the bootable CD ROM ... it's the easiest(i think) and it has all the version on it

im still using 5/10 but i guess the 6/23 ones are out now ...

they have three verions of each (i.e. 6/23-1 6/23-2 and 6/23-3) certain verions are supposed to be better for certanin types of ram (TCCD or UTT / BH) im sure it says it on the list but im thinking version 2 is what most use ... so maybe thats the one for both types

but if not you will have the CD and be able to try all the other ones to find the one that works best for you

Hopefully you know how to burn a bootable image onto a CD-R. once you do that the porcess flashing to a new BIOS is pretty easy ... if you have trouble im sure you will find help here

zac,

I have not followed it closely, cause it did not effect me, but I think their may have been some issues with the Corsair memory.

It is not clear, from your post, what the problems might be, too little information ..

However, this I know, you want to start by getting a "post" (power on self test) to bios and set up the bios for memtest and get a solid memtest going before you go any farther.

go to the simplest vidio configuration you can, and make sure you can post/boot to bios and memtest ...

can you do this?

Sorry, i,m laughing at my self, still no info here ...

so, the diag lights, when turning on power, what are they doing? Is there a buzzer going off?

Right.

Put card in to top slot machines runs smooth as a nut but no pic on monitor.

Put card in to bottom slot CPU fan a lot slower, machine starts it goes through all the set up screens and 4-5 times it just crashes and goes to load safe mode.

But I keep pressing enter and after awhile I get the normal window start up

No funny sounds just crashes a lot.
