SoDaR2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 ... Does not work. For some unknown reason the board just will not boot with it in at all, i get all the LED's and when i press the power on switch i get absolutely nothing. Not even a fan spin just absolutely dead as a door nail. However, i put my 6800GT back in the slot and all is well it comes on first time and boots like it should do. What the flippin 'eck is going on here? I have never seen this happen its like the motherboard dies with a 7800GTX but the 6800GT brings it back to life, like eh? Anyone ever had a problem like this one?
Cythrawl Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Try the 5-10 Bios and see if that changes anything.. I have seen this before and its usually coz of the BIOS and newer hardware than was available when the bios was originally written. Its either that or the 7800GTX is b0rked. and if you get it working and the 6800 doesnt have a home, send it to you older brother here in the USA.. think of it as a late birthday present or maybe an early Xmas present . Just remember I used to offload all my hardware to both you and Prawn when I upgraded it... for free as well...

Cythrawl Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 AHEM!http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=66489 Yes I KNOW it works, but if you look at his sig he's still on the 3.10 Bios which is why I suggested the BIOS upgrade... its either that or the Card itself is broken.. or he could try it in the other PCIeX Slot with the SLI Jumpers set (so its 8x) I was only asking for his old 6800GT card as its much superior to mine, and I am actual family If you bought it from Scum International or Bowlers, then im not suprised if its the card there Sodar
xgman Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Is it bumping into the NB fan maybe?

Ok i have tried all the 5/10 BIOS'es and it still refuses to boot up but yet when the 6800GT is insterted it seems to all come on fine and dandy. Tried the 7800GTX in the secondary PCI slot and still i got nothing but yet when the 6800GT is in there is boots up. I think the card is broke and im well cheesed off. Number one Scam International don't sell quality products like DFI or BFG so i don't go with them anymore, second Bowlers don't have them at all yet. I got mine from OCUK as they had mega stock when they came out and still have stock now looks like im going to have to take it back because it's just not working at all. As of now the 6800GT does not have a home at all (whenever i get a 7800 working) shipping it would be a nightmare though. MSI box it comes in is huge and has a . load of software and game in there but it's a good card. Can get it to 430/1.13 and it loads at 78-80c and does never go higher when under stress but i use it at Ultra speeds. Might have to wait longer though because OCUK have not been good to me since i ordered the 7800 i may have to wait for trusted suppliers to get them like CPUCity or Novatech. Is it bumping into the NB fan maybe? Nope it isnt ... i have checked. I can get a piece of through the card and fan with no problem so i doubt it is that. Also i have lifted the card up slightly to see if it stopped it spinning but i don't get any spin in the first place so thats no use really. If you can't get it working, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. You will have to find me and then kill me before i would give it up, unfortunately. I can pay for shipping once its all set ... Yes it does look like your card is broke tho... there really isnt any other reason why it would not work ..... You dont know anyone who has PCIeX other than you do you?
Demo24 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 I know someone whos BFG works fine in their DFI Nf4 SLI board. Sounds like you got a bad card.
jcniest5 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Do you have another PCI-E PC to put that 7800GTX in to test? Try that if you do.
zacha111 Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I too am having a problem with my BFG 7800GTX on my LP UT NF4 Ultra-Ds. It will not POST in PCIE slot #1 (closest to the CPU) but works in PCIE # 4. I tried this card on both systems in my sig with the same result: no go in #1, but OK in #4. My X800XL and 6800GT both run fine in slot #1. Tthe card is fully seated although just touching the nb fan. My 6800GT also touches the fan when seated. All four power connectors on the board are connected. I contacted BFG and they think it's the motherboard. I also tried flashing to the 510-3 bios. Same problem. I don't have another PCI Express board to test this on. Any ideas?
