DeathBringer Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Hey guys...I'm a newb here...please be gentle :-) Anyways, here is my issue and I hope someone may have some ideas. I'll be as detailed as I can possibly be. Okay, last Sat was at my Monthly LAN Party and we tripped the breakers like 4 times. (Yeah...I know... need a UPS  ). Anyways, after the fourth drop, my system files went to crap during scandisk at bootup..Many files deleted and that was that. I reloaded my Image, installed some "NEW" ram - XMS TWINX-3200Xl 2-2-2-5 @2.75v. Everything loaded fine during install...then it started...My system wouldn't get BSOD, it would just reboot! My temps always range between 35-50 degrees, so I knew it wasn't getting hot. I placed the original mem back in - 2x512 XMS 3200C2 - rebooted as well during a heavy battle in Lock-On. OK, So I ran MemTest+ v1.55 on the new TWINX mem. ALWAYS got errors on test #8 - 180 of them. So a little further research, found an article about VIA chipsets and NF4 boards - for best results set it to 2-2-2-11. re-ran tests, Still errors on Test #8 but time only 32. The memory is rated for 2.75 volts, the board only moves in increments of .10 so the Corsair tech on their forum said to raise the Voltage to 2.80 on the RAM. I did so, and the system gave me this error "IRQ_NOT_LES_EQUAL". BSOD big time. Rebooted system again and right before the Windows logo..BAM!! reboot. I lowered to 2.70 and system boots. I have tried to work with this with v125, v310 & BETA v5xx BIOS's...all of them will not boot at 2.80 volts. I'm really starting to think that my Mobo has crapped out on me ;-/ Any Ideas and suggestions would be very helpful... Sharp Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Hello, Corsair modules dont work well in this board. A lot of people have the same problems. Some are able to use 1 stick at a time and others have to tweak the timings a bit. Can you use BIOS 310 and 1 stick first. url]http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/NF4LD310.zip[/url] HOW TO FLASH THE BIOS Download this run it to make a RAMDRIVE boot disk. http://www.nerdlabs.org/bootdisks/diskimages/wboot98se.exe Then get a 2nd disk - Copy everything in the BIOS zip to it (Extract the files) - eg, copy awdflash.exe and nf4ld310.bin to it. - Boot from the RAMDRIVE DISK - Start computer without cdrom support. - Once it has loaded insert the 2nd disk. Type copy a:*.* c: Press enter Type c: Press enter Type awdflash nf4ld310.bin /f Press enter It should flash the BIOS. - Then you must turn the PC off - Clear the CMOS using the JBAT jumper, leave it there for 10mins. - Then put it back and when you power the PC enter the BIOS. - Load optimised defaults, save and exit. - Enter the BIOS and go to CMOS reloaded. - For each profile, save the current settings. - Then save and exit. - Now you can enter the BIOS and change the settings. Once done, use 1 stick of the new modules, Set the memory voltage to 2.8v or 2.7 if it does not work Do this in the BIOS, Ratio = 1:1 Command per clock...............Disable Cas latency...........................2 RAS to CAS delay..................3 Min RAS active time...............6 Row precharge time..............3 Row cycle time......................11 Row refresh cycle time..........14 Row to Row delay.................3 Write recovery time...............2 Write to read delay...............1 read to write delay...............1 Refresh period.......................AUTO Wrtie CAS latency..................1 DRAM bank interleave.......... .Enabled DQS Skew Control.............................Decrease Skew DQS Skew Value................................0 DRAM Drive Strength..........................AUTO DRAM Data Drive Strength..................AUTO Max Async Latency.............................6ns Read Preamble Time...........................5ns Idle Cycle Limit...................................AUTO Dynamic Counter................................Enable R/W Queue Bypass.............................AUTO Bypass Max.........................................AUTO 32 Byte Granularity.............................Disable(8 Bursts) And see what happens, then try both if it works with 1. DeathBringer Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Thanks for such detailed help!! I'll try it when I get home from work. A question for you, Which memory would you recommend for this board?
