Transattic Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 i dont know if i am getting my vocab right but i was wondering which type of Pentium 4 is better for the buck? or maybe just better overall. The reason i am asking is that i saw the Asus P4c800 and the P4p800 ... i am assuming that those take different chips., and i hear that the P4p800 is the best for the buck now. Tell me what you know. andrusk Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 (edited) i think your thinking of palimino, which is amd? Ive never heard of Paliamo? Anyone else? Edited July 8, 2003 by andrusk
Trakfast11 Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 (edited) i think Trans is thinking of the amd palimino too. its all good though. the P4P800 is based off the Intel 865PE chipset and the P4C800 is based off intel's 875P chipset. they both can use the same chips (all socket 478 chips, so that includes the Canterwood). the P4C800(875P chipset) is just more advanced than the P4P800 (865PE chipset). the 875P chipset introduces a new feature called Intel PAT (Intel Performace Acceleration Technology) which is suppose to help boost performance by around 3 to 5%. i don't know which motherboard has more bang for the buck though. maybe someone else could help ya out with that question. or point you in the right direction. Overclocker16 Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 I think he is talking about the other new chipset, I don't remember what it's called, don't really follow Intel.

syneze Posted July 9, 2003 Posted July 9, 2003 The Intel 865 chipsets are known as "Springdale" and the 875 chipsets are known as "Canterwood".
