Hello,

If SP1 is still higher than SP2 then it has to be a SP2 problem.

Have you disabled DEP? (only applies to SP2)

Right mouse on my computer >Properties

Advanced TAB

Startup and recovery settings >Settings

EDIT

Look at the last line

.../noexecute=optin...

change the word optin to alwaysoff

.../noexecute=alwaysoff...

Then save the file >OK, and restart the PC

It could very well be DEP or related. SP2 offers a lot more security at the expense of using a few more system resources. Personally I think it is well worth the trade-off and I would recommend leaving DEP on for essential windows programs and services (default).

Hello,

DEP is not a required feature and can be disabled. (nothing requires DEP to be enabled)

All is does it scan various codes in a running process when they run and it it is suspicious or a known security risk windows will prevent that process from running.

And if your CPU does not support hardware DEP things will be even slower.

That is why a lot of programs have problems in SP2.

A good antivirus program/spyware/firewall is all you need and your pc will be very secure.
