Ultra-d S/pdif Nforce Or Realtek

Hi All,

 

on the ultra-D what does the S/PDIF jumper do...

 

i want sound over s/pdif and when its going through "realtek 850" i dont get any - but through nforce4 i do..

 

i dont understand... please explain

so does the Ultra-D have two uadio controllers?

 

i just get how u can switch from one to the other?!?!?

Hello,

 

The board can use 2 audio drivers, realtek one and nvidia one

 

realtek Audio drivers = SPDIF jumper on pins 1-2 for it to work.

(Realtek codec will be generating the digital signal)

 

nVidia Audio drivers = SPDIF jumper on pins 2-3 for it to work.

(And the nvidia MCP will be generating the digial signal)

 

I think thats how it works.

Hello,

 

I prefer the nvidia drivers,

 

Realtek drivers seem to have more treble effects coming out of the speakers.

Bass does not work in games that do not support 3d surround sound too.

 

nvidia driver sounds better (I believe) and bass effects work all the time.

 

But I dont know how it is with the SPDIF connector.

yeah - cool

 

s/pdif should be raw sound :) ive gone with nforce as its pacakged unlike realtek :)
