bose301s Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Well, I have the hardware listed in my sig. I keep experiencing random lock ups aka. freezing in Windows that requires me to reset my computer. I have no clue what is causing it at all, but it seems to happen totally randomly. Usually i have winamp and Maxthon browser open when it happens although it can happen while doing anything. Any help is appreciated.
willyrybone Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 have you tested you current setting for stability with prime95 , SuperPI, ..... ?
bose301s Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 well, not at these exact settings, but with voltages lower on CPU and LDT but a little higher it passed prime95 for 15+ hours, then when i used windows even then i ran into the problems, i even reinstalled windows since then. willyrybone Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 That is sort of strange that you could pass prime and not run windows. i know windows usually has problems with the IDE drivers that are packed in the chipset drivers on the disk. Â or is it possible that there is spyware/adware program that is maxing out the resources and causing it to freez? I seems as if the settings are prime stable then it could be a software issue
bose301s Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 yea, I'm wondering if its the drivers for the cheap TV tuner i have. I'm gonna take it out of the system and see what heppens.
bose301s Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Well, the TV tuner is gone and the problems still exist. Do you really have to have the Molex connector and FDD connector on the motherboard hooked up? I thought this was just for running in SLI mode. bose301s Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I also have to add that in regular use i get hiccups in the sound from winamp.
JimX Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Sounds like it's either the CPU not coping with the speed and/or the motherboard drivers not working properly. If you get sound problems in Winamp it's more likely the motherboard drivers, but it still could be the CPU too. Uninstall all the motherboard drivers, and uninstall the Realtek sound driver too if you have it installed. Then reboot and install the NF4 unified drivers from Nvidia. A lot of people have a problem when the Realtek driver was installed as well as the Nvidia drivers. Â Use OCCT to test CPU/memory stability even if you pass a long Prime test - it will still often pick up problems within its half hour test. I'm never satisfied with my system stability unless I can pass Prime, OCCT, 3dmark, and then many hours of some FPS game (oh, add SuperPI in there too I guess, but for some reason I've never had a SuperPI fail, even if Prime or OCCT has failed. weird)
bose301s Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 It passes all of that stuff. I plugged in the Molex and floppy connector on the board and haven't had prob;ems since, but am not optomistic that that was it, although it is working fine now. willyrybone Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I haven't seen the mobo connecters making big diff's in stability, but I have seen ppl the say the without thos connectors theire fans (CPU, chipset) would shut off during use. So i guess is best to have them all in .... hopefully it fixes your problems

txmale36 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 ive heard all four connectors should be plugged into the board for stability.
