akwizeguy Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Hey guys I have that SLI-DR board, and I cant run the memory in dual channel mode. Memory I borrowed from a friend for the summer. So I was wondering what specific memory will run in dual channel mode right out of the box. Which ones have you guys had luck with? oliveryochest Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Every matched pair should run in dual channel out of the box. OCZ is my preference. I like the Gold Edition. @ the egg for 150.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227211. I recommend any of these for the reps come here frequently to assist. There are other good ones as well, but I would stick with these three OCZ Buffalo Tech Crucial Ballistix
Pihrana Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Every matched pair should run in dual channel out of the box. OCZ is my preference. Dont you believe it tho !! The Matched pair of Crucial XMS TWINX-3200C2PT (2x512Mb) Memory i bought for mine wouldnt run in dual channel mode. Neither would it run in any of the yellow slots in single channel. After a Bios update and more voltage it now runs in dual channel mode in the Orange slots only. It wont however boot past the CMOS.....OK! screen.... But then again i dont meet the min requirements for Power Supply so that may be a contributing factor. My new PSU and New Anandtech Recommended memory will arrive tomorrow which will, hopefully, help me get round my problems, but from the general feeling i get from spending the past 3 days reading this forum, its luck as much as anything regarding your new build working flawlessly without tweaking !! Loads of people do seem to use OCZ with success tho, so i do agree with Oliveryochest recommendation on that one. So much so that, thats the same brand of memory which im having delivered tomorrow....... Matched Pair of OCZ Premiers !! akwizeguy Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Well the reason why I asked is because right now I have a gig of kingston value ram from the friend. I can use both sticks on it and just dont have time to really tweak it to make it work. Ive seen the sticky on here with all the bios settings, but I just really dont have the time to deal with it. So just wondering which brand has had the best luck with the SLI-DR
FLD Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 TCCD ==> G.Skill of your choice. I went with 4400LE anyway. BH-5 ==> G.Skill GBGH, Mushkin Redline XP4000. CH-5 ==> OCZ 4000VX. I think if you are in the US OCZ RMA process should be alright. Micron chipset ==> Crucial Ballistix 4000. Its characteristics are more towards TCCD side but the best of theirs does not clock as high as TCCD. I like their aftersale service and support very much. akwizeguy Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 sorry for the noob question, but whats the difference between BH-5/CH-5/TCCD memory. Which one is the best overall memory? These tearms keep coming up.

Guest burningrave101 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 sorry for the noob question, but whats the difference between BH-5/CH-5/TCCD memory. Which one is the best overall memory? These tearms keep coming up. Winbond BH-5/CH-5 style memory will require more voltage but can run tighter timings. TCCD can run higher speeds with less voltage but requires more lax timings. I prefer Winbond BH-5/UTT-BH chips myself. OCZ PC3200 Gold and G.Skill GH are good options for UTT-BH.
