Bladesinger7x Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I am experiencing a weird problem; when having 2x512MB ram in orange slots and running PC Mark04 - memory benchmarks the computer reboots; the same happened when ram was in yellow slots. WTF? The reboots happen no matter what FSB, voltage or timings I use (also at default settings). Prime, OCCT and 3DMark seem to work without problems. Then I tried using only one stick at a time, to see if maybe one ram stick was to blame: Slot 1(yellow): windows boots, PC Mark memory benchmarks pass ok Slot 2(orange): windows boots, PC Mark memory benchmarks pass ok Slot 3(yellow): no boot / black screen, long peeps slot 4(orange): no boot / black screen, long peeps This happened whether I use stick 1 or stick 2 - the ram is Twinmos PC3200 1GB Dual Kit with Winbond CH-5 chips (week 44, year 03). So I believe the ram sticks are OK. Is this the board issue - should I give it back and replace or is this maybe a BIOS issue that could be solved. Sharp Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Hello, what power supply do you have? All 4 power connectors plugged into the board? What memory voltage are you using? Have you tested each module at a time with memtest? Have you tested both module in dual channel mode with memtest?
Bladesinger7x Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Connecting the floppy power conector solved the PCMark04 reboot issue. Thanx for the tip. Regarding RAM sticks, yes, they were tested with memtest (1.55+) but so far only in dual channel. However, I believe this is not the RAM issue, but rather the BIOS.
