raceguy Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Howdy folks, I sold off the hynix in my sig and am stuck with 512mb of crucial 2700 at the time being. I'm looking for something that will do 250mhz 1T 2.5-3-3-8 or better, not killer timings but good enough. I'd probley like to go PC 4000 so i can rma without feeling guilty if it doesnt do 250, but i would do 3200 if its safe bet to hit 250. These DFI boards are pretty picky so i figured i'd post and ask for what people think, what ram people have had sucess with. I'd like to hang around $150 for a price. Thanks folks! jermaink Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 The Mushkin Redline PC4000 can also reach DDR 500 (reviews claim it can reach up to DDR 540).
Sharp Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Hello, I would recommend something that takes 2.8v and can run at 250Mhz. The Mushkin Redline requires 3.3v - 3.5v, so it will be running hot. Crucial Ballistix PC4000 2.5-4-4-8 (might be able to run at low timings). Crucial spec says 2.8v, they dont list a range for some reason. SyxPak Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 Could someone recommend some 1Gig sticks (preferably a dual-channel kit of 2x1024Meg sticks) to get to 240-250HTT at 2-3-3-6 timings or there abouts? I've been looking at 2Gb DDR PC3200 OCZ EL Platinum Dual Channel kit - OCZ OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K (€345) and Corsair TWINX2048-XMS3200C2. I assume with the OCZ sticks there's a good chance it'll be TCC5 instead of TCCD. The Corsair stuff apparently uses Infineon 64M X 8 ICs. /-Aside-/ Assuming I find 2x1Gig sticks that run, could I slap 2x256Meg sticks of similar-speed ram in the second pair of slots on the board with my San Diego 3700 and still run ~240Mhz HTT @ 1T CmdRate? Woah nice timings, i want 2-2-5-2 is there more BH-5 stuff in higher speed like DDR500/550? Obviously the timings would be as good as 2-2-5-2 but i hope there is more of a range in the BH-5 stuff. uwackme Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 I'd pick anything with FOR SURE UTT-CH chips, but stuff with the BH chips seems to have issues with high FSB, 1T, and memtest#8/SuperPI32M/StressPrime. I have a set of new BH here, runs 260Mhz flawlessly @ 2T, errors out badly in test#8 if I go 1T over 195Mhz. Where as most sets of UTT-CH (aka the OLD FAMOUS VX stuff) runs 250-260Mhz 1T like a champ. The difference is as simple as SuperPI32M..... 250Mhz CH 1T 26m54s and 260mhz BH 2T 27m51s, so the 2T hurts a bit. until I find a source of real UTT-CH chips Im out of the mmory buying business. Ill suffer with what I have till the dust settles. Since you ant even count on OCZ 4000VX to actually _BE_ VX, I surrender. I cant test the 4x 512M settings till OCZ rma's my bad set of BH, if the 4 sticks ultimately @ 2T work as well as 4 sticks of CH @ 2T, then I wont be too unhappy. if not, then 2 kits of OCZ BH will go up for disposal.
