rhoalwaylander Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 OK, i have a DFI lanparty SLI-DR motherboard, with 2 gig of dual channel Geil value RAM in dual channel set up (slots 2 & 4), which works ok. I have added some more of the same ram in slots1 & 3, which has now caused errors whilst playing css. The machine now routinely crashes/freezes. What am i missing? I thought this mobo could handle 4gig of dual ram. Has anyone had similar issues with Geil ram? I still have the original bios to when i bought the board. Maybe an upgrade is inorder? What do you think guys?

What do you think guys? Please make sure you make a sig with all components including bios version so others will be able to help you better. If I was blind, would you ask me for the time. Plus you do not need 4gigs to play CSS.
rhoalwaylander Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 I will get my bios version once i get home and post asap. Oliveryochest, you are most correct - i certainly dont need 4 gig of memory to play css - its running perfectly fine on the 2gig. I just recently bought some more ram for my machine but cant get it working, but it should do as the board is capable to run 4gig dual channel. Its very frustrating
oliveryochest Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 when running 2 gigs, disable CPC in the bios
oliveryochest Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 i think it has to do with your "value" ram.
davidhammock200 Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 It is a BIOS issue, use the search button & read the RAM stickies.
rhoalwaylander Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 i think it has to do with your "value" ram. Quite possibly, however it seems to me that lots of other manufactures of "quality" ram also incures the similar fate of being unable to utilise all 4 dual channel slots? I recently used Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x512MB) dual channel which also had similar errors
rhoalwaylander Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 It is a BIOS issue, use the search button & read the RAM stickies. Thanks David, will give it a go.
uwackme Posted June 9, 2005 Posted June 9, 2005 Interesting to know what WinXP does when faced with 4GB's of ram. Only 3.5GB is supposed to usable under 32bit version. Im not going to taunt happyfunball, Ill stick to 2G till WinXP64bit is all polished up nice and the drivers are 100%.
