vega Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I want to know how to disable the prompt i get that tells me Im booting in single channel ive looked in the bios but im not seeing it.. is there a way i can do this or not? I imagin there is... Just a new board for me to get used to... The ram I know this is dual channel ram.. it won't boot in slots 2 and 4 .. well it boots but as soon as windows loads it blue screens.. now i know both sticks work just fine because they never crash in single channel.... ive tried most of everything i know.. so now i just want to know how to set it to boot into single channel unless someone I don't know the bios actaully date. but i have not flashed it and i bought it 6-1-05 so whatever version that comes with it as of that date... else has a way to solve my blue screen of death... thanks for anyhelp
Sharp Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hello, The only way to use the yellow slots is to flash the BIOS to 510 or 316. Please find out what BIOS version you have. Look at the bottom left of the screen for a data, eg 01/25/05. Just after it detects your hard drives. Have you tried increasing the memory voltage? Bios 01/25/05 will cause the voltage option to reset to 2.6v all the time, so that may a problem. What power supply are you using? Must be at least 480W and 24pin and you must plug all the power connectors into the board.

Sharp Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Should everything mentioned above not work, try memtest. http://www.memtest.org/download/1.55.1/mem...55.1.floppy.zip Extract the files to a folder and run the install.bat. You should always run memtest when you get a new PC/MEM. This program will test the memory for errors, If you get any errors while in dual channel mode stop and try each stick on its own. 3 hours for each time you run it. Run with 2.8v all the time. If you have the new BIOS memtest should be included, GENIE BIOS SECTION.
pershoot Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hello, The only way to use the yellow slots is to flash the BIOS to 510 or 316. incorrect. yellow slots can be used prior to 3.16, but you will get the message, "for dual channel, please place dimms in slots 2&4". i have used yellow on 3.10, 414-3 to -1, & 510-3 to -
vega Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 incorrect. yellow slots can be used prior to 3.16, but you will get the message, "for dual channel, please place dimms in slots 2&4". thats exactly what i don't want to see.. so my bios version has to be that version... so do you guys think i should flash my bios...? Mr Stom Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I assume you`re at stock speeds. Try putting the sticks in the orange slots, give it 2.7Vdimm and see if it boots from there.
