ricey Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Well, I just flashed my BIOS to 3/10 (the most recent 'official' DFI BIOS for my LP nF4 SLi DR). I carefully followed A_G's instructions, and everything went well. My previous BIOS was 25/1, which reportedly has some problems. Funny thing is, my system was rock solid stable with 25/1, and none of my benchmarks have changed with 3/10. I haven't run Memtest86 yet (I do that sort of stuff when I'm sleeping lol). Being a cautious sort of person, I have not flashed any of the beta BIOS's like 5/10(*) yet. All my hardware and software are working fine, so I can't see that there is any reason to change my BIOS. Come to think of it, there was no reason for me to change my 1/25 BIOS, but everything I'd read said that the 1/25 BIOS was bad news, so I did. I still haven't played with over-clocking my PC (this thing standard is just so much faster than my previous PC- AthlonXP 2600 Thoroughbred, 1024 'no-name' RAM, ATI 9600 Pro 128MB Video Card, Asus A7n 8x Dlx Mobo). When I do, maybe I will need to flash a later BIOS. I am a little surprised that the latest official DFI BIOS for the nF4 boards is just a couple of days short of being 3 months old. 3 months is a long time in computerland. ricey
Frallan Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Well thats bc all the tweakers Use Betas anyway and bc there are issues right now that requires the BIOS writers time in a unordinary way... But since most ppl are stable with 10/3 it doesn't matter. (rule number 1: If it ain't broke don't fix it :dog: )
RGone Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Come to think of it, there was no reason for me to change my 1/25 BIOS You had it correct when you made that statement for sure. I have run bioses that you guys never ever even see and not the first bios has increased the max FSB or max Overclock of any cpu or processor. There will be a new official as you guys like to call it; bios coming in a few days and it hopefully will included microcode for X2 and all "previous" cpu iterrations without error. Yet to be seen. Of course if you have no X2 processor; you will have no need to flash to the new bios but never resist the urge to flash. I flash daily to stay in flashing shape. HEhehehehee. RGone... jtc_hunter Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I have tried the 4/14, the 3/16,the 3/26, the 5/10's, and the official 3/10s are still the best for my setup. Fast , rock stable, cool, and absolutely no errors of any kind. I dont think I will be flashing for some time.
