NF3 Strange problem.

Recommended Posts

ok so i finally get my 2x512mb sticks of twinmos bh-5 and lite-on dvd burner today. well nothing but issues when putting 2 stick of ram in. memtest errors to the heavens so i move on till i can do some more testing(yes i tested each stick individually).

now here is the strange part. with my dvd burner(lite-on 1693s) i get no action. can't even open the tray. well i do a little swap with the old rig and no problems. windows detects, i get to open the tray, basically everything is normal. so i go through using different plugs from my powerstream 520watt. still no dice. anyone got a clue as to what is going on here? tried it with the ide cable attached and detached on both systems. same results as before.

*edit*i'm using this lite-on to replace an old msi cd burner i have so i used the same ide cable and molex connector so there shouldn't be any issues.

well i did some moving of stuff around. dvd-rw works in the XP rig with the aspire 520watt psu, does not work in the 64 rig(i'm talking cpu's here not os's) with the ocz powerstream 520watt. moved the psu's between the rig's and now works with the aspire in the 64 rig. haven't checked the ocz in the xp rig yet but i'll do that when i get home.

cyberfossil, thanks for the info about the nvidia ide software. i'll uninstall after work and do some more tests. using tic tac's 04/15/05 bios by the way. hope this helps cause with some testing i can't get into windows with 2 sticks in @200mhz 1T 2.5-3-3-8 timings. i'll post when i get all the suggestions tried out. thanks guys.
