Angry_Games Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 when you can purchase them from any retailer any time. since you cannot purchase them yet then there's no need for a bios to support them. (official) the 5/10 bios already supports them. (wonders why everyone goes crazy for a bios on a cpu that no one even has and wont be able to have for a bit longer)

Brownbay Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I don’t’ see why everyone throws such a sissy fit every time someone asks when the official BIOS for X2 support will be release. It’s a perfectly valid question and needs to be addressed professionally. Believe it or not, we’re on the heal of the X2 distribution… in fact the X2’s start shipping from most US Retailers (online) tomorrow, June 7th. And there’s still no word from DFI for official support, despite this being an officially supported forum. A flight plan is not submitted after the plane has taken off… so some things with this X2 launch need to be put into perspective. Granted that the 510-x BIOS’s support X2… they aren’t official and not many people are willing to try beta BIOS’s especially if they do not have the resources to recover from a failure. I may be preaching to the converted… but with the recent announcement from Anadatech bumping off the MSI Neo 4 Plat from its top recommended motherboard list (due to some BIOS problems), DFI has now take top spot and as a result the not so technically savvy have begun to flock to DFI. I’m just venting and I apologize… but its’ probably because it’s hot as hell up here in Toronto… about 33 degrees when the norm is like 24 – 25. Angry_Games Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 we’re on the heal of the X2 distribution not sure what this means...were we damaged by something? we'll have X2 support as i have stated many many many many many times...but we dont just 'make a bios official' without testing it thoroughly. while I have an X2, and Taiwan has one or two of them, that just doesnt mean we qualify a bios because those three cpu's work for us. BIOSes require extensive qualification. so...officially, i didn't throw a hissy fit...I've just stated the reality of the situation, and then asked aloud 'why do people go nuts about stuff like this when 1. ive already answered it many times 2. do you honestly think we WONT make X2 support official? 3. is it so crucial and an emergency that you have to have it now now now now without us qualifying it as a good/safe bios thereby putting ourselves at financial risk (from returned motherboard from who-knows-what kind of problems could come from an untested OFFICIAL bios? i mean...come on people. You know we will have one. You have asked 100 times already at least. The answer has never been different...it is always 'yes we will have official bios that supports X2 cpu. No i don't know when that will be, but it will be, and it won't take 10 months'. it isn't getting bent or ranting or treating you like stupid kids...its logical and its truthful and it means you should expect it and more importantly, it means if and when it happens, you will hear about it here for sure since we don't hide such things from you. Guest Shibby Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I hear ya on the heat in TO, think I nearly had heatstroke playing football in Ajax yesterday. I do think some people are flying into a bit too much of a panic with the official bios release for X2. Even if it's not release exactly concurrently with the X2's, there was never any promise that it would be. I see it as a matter of "do you want it done right, or do you want it done fast". I'm certain the DFI guys aren't dragging their heals, I'd just rather have it done right than fast.
