obscurehero Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 I've been trying for a bit...but I can't get the computer to boot past the irq screen thing. I've tried up to 1.53v on my sandy. I didn't want to go higher until I found out more. How do I get 3ghz?
SaFrOuT Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 sure 1.53 is too low for 3Ghz , u have the beast XP-120 up the Vcore to 1.65 and see if ti will boot or not
Angry_Games Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 don't expect 3Ghz on a San Diego on air trust me...Rgone and I tried and tried to get 3Ghz stable on air and its a total no go (and I have yet to see anyone get a truly stable 3Ghz air overclock on these A64's yet)
obscurehero Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 ok thanks...why does my air cooling make a difference if it never goes above 40c at least so far...its never booted into windows. I was hoping...haha...oh well. Thanks angry.

Maybe with your setup you can handle 2.9, but don't expect much more and you'll certainly need more than 1.53v
SaFrOuT Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 i can boot into windows with 3Ghz using my Vrnicr 3200+ with ~1.65 Vcore he can't even pass boot scrren so give him some hope that he can manage to enter windows even if not 1 sec stable @ prime like me as i said increase ur Vcore and see
obscurehero Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Gotcha...still working my way up. How high is too high with my vcore?
GrossmeisterB Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 My 3000+ Venice runs 9x311( =2800MHz) with 1.52Volts...I bet it won't hit 3GHz, because I'd need too much Vcore to get there...but maybe after some burn-in?!?! Who knows...my "old" AthlonXP 1700+ was at 2300MHz all the time, and no matter how high I set the Vcore, it didn't want to get higher...but after like 8 months of having it at 2300MHz, I tried again, and guess what? It worked fine at 2500MHz at a lower voltage...maybe that will happen to our/mine CPU again... ;-)
SaFrOuT Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Gotcha...still working my way up. How high is too high with my vcore? on air ur maximum is 1.65 but with good air cooling and low room temp
obscurehero Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Great! Thanks. So long as I keep below 50c is everything good? I've got the a/c on inside, so I think its around 70f and its got an xp-120 with about 90cfm going through it. Its at about 38c load with 1.4v going through it. What is the best combination of voltage control? Use the special vid primarily? Also, what should the startup voltage be as I'm going up? loc.o Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 Me 24/7: 1,5 startup 1.325 * 113% 11*250@3,5v Other timings in sig.
Angry_Games Posted June 6, 2005 Posted June 6, 2005 SaF, rgone and i and many others can boot into windows @ 3Ghz its pointless though because it isn't stable...so why bother? Stability is what you should be after, not the ability to boot to a speed and run a benchmark. we aren't dashing hopes...we are being realistic. You should me a guy who is stable @ 3Ghz on air, and I'll give you...well, something good...but you wont (we've already read all the xtreme stuff we could find all over the net...it just aint happenin...its better to have a realistic outlook than it is to get frustrated trying to achieve something that isn't going to happen...)
