NickS Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Well right now, I'm kind of angry with my DFI. Nothing to serious, but these temps are crazy! I have an Antec Super LanBoy case, and a Thermalright XP-90 w/92MM Zalman fan and a good amount of the thermalright heatsink paste. The bios & smartguardian read very high temps. (53, 54ºC Folding!) Everything is at stock, but why such high temps?! Please tell me, what is the BEST bios out there for my board. DFI LanParty UT nForce 3 250Gb. Not looking for an OC, not looking for tweaks. I just want an accurate temp reading. Thanks. (also, cld a different bios cause my ram instability at such low timings)
ZoKi Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 THERE IS NO BEST BIOS. THERE IS ONLY A BEST BIOS FOR YOU personally i use 510-2 beta. there are alot out, i guess you gotta try them out and see how it goes
zero-fill Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 a good amount of the thermalright heatsink paste. Exactly how much TIM do you have on there, if you put too much that could hurt your temps. You really only need about the size of 2/3 of a BB on the A64 heatspreader, at least that's what Arctic Silver says about their TIM, I never use the stuff that comes with my thermalright heatsinks. NickS Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 yeah. i had a limited budjet and for as5 it would have cost another ~$10 to buy (incl. shipping & tax from JabTech) I have this generic 'silver' stuff but it emits this clear liquid and it's ver. cheap. i guess I'm gonna have to live with my current bios, 'eh. babyelf Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 there's no "one bios to rule them all... the lord of the bios" hehe but there's a best one for u.. just try them and see which one u like and get the best results on and use as5 as instructed on the AS5 website.. i'll get them now and clearn the generic stuff
RGone Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Get one of the bioses later than the original 8/27/04 and the temps may read lower somewhat. Depending on if you have an early CO stepping processor. You don't bother to say what bios you are using so it is only possible to say to change to a later bios. RGone...
audscott Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 My NF3 always gave me hot readings, even though it was cool to the touch: I finally gave up on monitoring temps. It ran like an SOB, so I decided to ge the NF4.

audscott Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 newcastle runs hotter.. but not that hot My 3200+ NC always ran mid 50's C under load...never got below 45 idle. I sold it to a guy in Kuwat who screamed when he saw the temps, but I gave him the same advice I gave you - he's as happy as a clam - no stability issues at all. Save yourself some grey hair...ditch smart guardian or MBM - you'll be much happier.
NickS Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 oh yeah mine idles like, 39ºC if i do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and teh case temp stays low. the minute my 6800 starts doing something or my CPU starts doing something, case temps shoot up and such. alright, so my temps are normal. thats basically what I wanted to make sure of. thanks! btw my airflow shld be good Front LED Antec 120MM Intake Rear Antec 120MM Exhaust Enermax Noisetaker Fan's @ Full Blast (still inaudable ) Rear PCI Exhaust Fan
