loggan26 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 It took me a while to track this down hence the slow reply, BUT rather than fuel a thread that was going south where this question originated i thought to just post new here......... Quote............. Btw Loggan, did you say you tried the L12 mod on your Barton Desktop? Now i think of it i'm sure i read somewhere that its not suitable for Barton Desktops. EDIT: Yeah i did. Quote: L12 Mod This is for the folks running the Tbred 133 cpu's and the 133 Mobile cpu's. THIS IS NOT FOR BARTON DESKTOP core CPU’s, but can be used on the mobile Barton’s and on T'Breds. And it worked ok for you?....End Quote The question was asked and also pointed to where it had been read , on my Abit NF7 Faq, (website) that is the lil walkthrough i knocked together while offshore and while racin the Nfarce7........this was in fact for the Abut Nforce7.......this was written before the DFi UI was even released.......so it kinda pertrained to that board that lil bit of info that was unfurled...........BUT saying that we did use the L12 mod then and quite effectivley too, SO when i read this http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=3...light=3114+ATTO after the UI was released and all were troubleshooting and disecting it............that was when i decided to try and use L12 mod on the crap OCing 2500/2800 bartons i ran.......with the L12 mod i could OC these cpu's now(a little better), but they were never gonna be a patch on the 2500XP-M......, Off course this did not always work for everyone, it was hit or miss user to user, and with amd locking multis and the move to mobiles for the UI/LPB users the L12 mods were quickly forgotten......i just wanted to point this out, if you read the thread you will see its a matter of choice and for a few only that might benefit.......Long winded i know but i just wanted to point this out....... red930 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Thanks loggan26 for yhe post written in your usual, very entertaining style  I've been using war mods on this new chip(xp-m2600 0351),won't be able to tell any diff til I pull it and try without. I have noticed some strange goins on,like reboots above 1.9vcor when tryin to run OCCT and hope that the mod is the cause. loggan26 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Cheers thanks Playah, i just dont like "loose ends" if you know what i mean...Entertaining?????? Me>? I been called many things over the years man but never that.....hehehehe... Hmmmm well as you know i run 1.9v 24/7 and recently been pushing 1.95v and i've been (short) stress testing as well just to see if cpu is stable and all looks good, problem being that rig is only one i got apart from my laptop now so it is used for everything, to leave it stress testing for 8+ hours is just not an option, added to the fact it sounds like a "Harrier Jump Jet" so to leave the HO on overnight is a no go, not in this house hold i'm afraid, Mrs Logan would have my a$$ for that.... it could be your mod that is causing your reboots etc, only way to realy know for sure is pull the mods......I dont run any war mods though i am tempted to try what with the recent success........Hope you get it sussed man.... red930 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 What HS you using? I've just got this hood that fits over the slk947u,about 1.25 in and a 92mm tornado will screw into it,I haven't tried it yet,but I'm thinkin that being elevated 1.25in above the HS could eliminate some of the dead spot. The theory sounds good, but won't know til tha rubber meets the road. Hmmm...I wonder if it will make it louder or more quiet Ya know you could always get the family ear plugs to wear to bed so ya could prime all night
Shinobi Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Thankyou for posting that Loggan i've been interested in hearing your reply on how successful it was Was a bit confused after reading what you'd wrote on the other site. So it can be worthwhile on these DFI's, especially for those experiencing major stability issues with their CPU's. Definitely something worth trying out when all else fails... loggan26 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 SLK900A is what i run, i couldnt get a Neo backbracket (AT the time) here in Uk for the 947u, I didnt want to dremmel mod it either and fubar it, so it was rma'ed, quick and easy option to get me up and OC'ed was the 900a, heavy to be held on just with the "lifted" zif socket i know but its held and works like a dream, with the weather being what it was recently, my load has been 30C and even at full 1.95v and benching i never broke 36C, paired with the 90mm Tornado it appears it is doing its job raaaal well.......i dont see many temps like those at speeds like that on other setups ...Yup the dead spot near made me go for a higher cfm 80mm fan, i dont think the choice i made has impacted temps to much though...... Yup elevating the Fan should work in theory, that is what others do or go with the 80mm option........test and try is the only way to fly ...... Hehehe tried putting them in the garden while they was sleeping but got caught, no plugs dont work man

So it can be worthwhile on these DFI's, especially for those experiencing major stability issues with their CPU's. Definitely something worth trying out when all else fails... Like i said already man, i dont like leaving loose ends, those that know me know this i saw you were a bit "confused" with the reference to the NF7 note so that is why i went searching to clarify......i never said it was succesful or worthwhile at least i didnt think it was worth the gains, but the point of this and other forums is too help others so that is why i posted the link to what was found then, it might help those that are going a little "mad" with their 3200+ being non responsive (or other cpu), or then again as the post suggests it might not, user discretion..... Lots of folks find it hard to decipher what i say and what i mean, i try hard being a "haggis chaser" though it is sometimes hard to come across with the correct dialog.............maybe someone will find the link usefull.............Search search and search folks...........its not hard.........Snakt........Nuff said
red930 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 , my load has been 30C and even at full 1.95v and benching i never broke 36C, Man,that's an outstanding temp,at what ambient temps? What mean this "haggis chaser",would that imply a wee bit'o tha Scott in ya laddie. Ya don't have ta go chasin too far,I've found something for ya, http://www.scottishhaggis.co.uk/
loggan26 Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Case temps are always between 27C -31C no higher i got 4x80mm YStech silent fans in a coolermaster ats200 aluminium case, had it for years but its great at keeping temps low, great airflow....so i keep it around, the longest case i have ever kept..... Hehehehe thanks for the link to the Haggis man, its not something i would buy online when you can buy it at any local butchers or superstore........Ye ken fit like laddie? Hehehehe you dont wanna get me start spikin Glasweigan now do you?

red930 Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 It seems that not everybody likes haggis, they even made a sport of seein who could throw it away from themselves the furthest, http://www.scottishhaggis.co.uk/haggis_hurling.htm
