some minor questions

i recently put my new rig together after years of intel i came back to amd products. So i did some research and alot of reading and i settled on :

 

fx55

dfi nf4 sli-dr

ocz pc400- vx

wd 74g sata drives

6800gt's

xp-90c with tornado

 

now i grasp the oc'in for my cpu and fsb , actually i ran my ocz up to 269 with 2225 1t timings

but i have questions on my vid cards.

 

1. the jumpers for single/sli i have set to normal and my pc runs well.. Should this be switched to the lower jumpers settings and if so why does my pc not boot windows until i switch back to normal?

 

2. is the ocz powerstream 520 wtt. enuff PS to handle it?

 

3. everytime i try to change my driver version , why do i lose sli capabilities?

i change back to 66 driver and all is fine again

 

i have run 3dmark05 (8724) 3dmark03 (19,742) and aquamark3 (91,605)

are these good scores or should i expect better?

2.if u're running 2 6800gt i suggest a 600W powerstream

 

3. it happens on the new drivers.. a clean install of windows should fix it

 

u can overclock ur 6800GT to 6800ultra without problems i reckon.. then u'll get around 10k for 05

You can use driver cleaner program that removes the all the nvida drivers and reinstall them, works for me anyways.

1. on the sli-dr mobo there a 6 jumpers between the pci-e slots. in the manual it says for sli mode move jumpers from top 2 rows to bottom 2 rows. i do this and my system will reboot after bios loads and start up again. my understanding is that in sli mode i will run 8x 8x n single mode it is 16x 2x correct? so my question is if it is supposed to be in sli mode for the jumpers, why does it only run normal from the single vga jumper setting?

Yes, it is fine, in fact Anandtech use the OCZ PS 520W for their SLI testing.

 

Now if you are thinking about the new 150W VC's,

then the OCZ PS 600W or Enermax 600W would be a better choice.
