Guest AnthraX Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hi, I have a bit of problem here. You see, whenever I try to open some programs, like Dxdiag, nothing happens. I can see the task in task manager but nothing happens on-screen. I managed to fix this problem by putting my Seagate Barracuda 200Gb SATA disk on SATA connector nr.2. But I noticed that it was on DMA Ultra 2 (should be on 6 og 7, right?). But everything was working fine so I didn't bother about it. But now the same problem has happened. Some programs dont appear on the screen, although some programs work like FireFox and ASE. Is it a faulty HDD or something else? Guest AnthraX Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Bump :/ I put the disk on SATA nr 1 and now it works fine but it's still @ DMA
Atomic Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I feel pretty lame asking this, but what is nr 1? I am having the same problem (w/ VideoMark 03) with a 250GB barracuda.... I click, but it doesn't load. Looks like it must be a problem with seagate compatiblity with this mobo...
Guest AnthraX Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 The sata connector on the motherbord. Mine has 4 of 'em, SATA 1,2,3 and 4.
custom_coms Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I have some weird prblms with my seagate as well. You guys try running the diagnostics utility from seagates webpage (the floppy/bootable cd version). Mine gives me controller errors. And it seems slow sometimes when loading (may be lack of ram, fixing that in next week or two) various programs. It performs like it should according to HD Tach, but won't run the long test (crashes). Sam

Angry_Games Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 i have had nothing but problems with Seagate SATA drives on the Intel 875B LanParty, 875P-T LanParty, LanParty NF3, and LanParty NF4...but no problems at all with their IDE drives... i finally got mad, paid the 15% restocking fee at newegg, and went to Hitachi 80GB SATA II drives and Western Digital SATA 160GB drive

Angry_Games Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 get a Hitachi, WD, Maxtor 200GB (or get some Hitachi SATA II 80GB drives and raid them since they are about $55-$60 each lol)
Guest AnthraX Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hope I can get a refund since the store I bought it at (www.start.is) only sells Seagay drives :eek2:
Guest Booger Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Dang, Had nothing but good luck with my 400 gig. It's not my boot drive, just has all the games and most of my apps on it. Could it be a driver issue? Nvidia vs. Msoft? Cables? Then again I've got a different drive and there may be no issue with my type. Just throwing stuff out there. Good Luck
Angry_Games Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 i tried both as boot drive and as just a data drive (data only was the original intention when i bought it) it would ALWAYS work for the first time i booted with it, but SOMETHING in the system did something to the drive and after the first boot it would never work again =/ i dont doubt Seagate makes good drives (ive had plenty of their IDE drives and some of my partners have ALWAYS used their high end SCSI drives) but there's just something odd about their SATA drives on our boards...yet some users have absolutely no problems with them...
