kinkladze10 Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Ok I had this working fine, then the fan on my GPU failed so I swopped it for another which was an HIS excaliber and then found out it didnt fit cos of the artic cooler I plugged it into the 2nd slot but that didnt work as I kept losing the picture on the TFT for some reason. I took that card back and now have an 6800 ultra which fits fine in the first slot but doesnt align properly with the locking bolts, The Ultra worked fine on the first boot but when I tried to screw it all in I lost the picture again and now cant get it back on either pci slot! This leads me to belive I now have a knackered mobo. I've checked the GPU and I've check the slots theres nothing there that shouldnt be there so now I really don't know what to do. Its not the monitor as I've tried to and I've tried different wires I cant do anything with the pc as I cant get a screen to work with. Do I have to RMA this ? want clarification as dont want to strip it all down and not have it work ! specs coolermaster stacker tagan 480 Watt 6800 Ultra DFI Lanparty Ultra D 3200xl corsair platinum am raptor 76 gb maxtor 300gb audigy
Guest nomad Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Is your Monitor a LCD? Are you using the DVI on it? Try using the VGA input or try another computer to see if it is just your panel not starting. There seems to be allot of problems with DVI video cards rewriting the EDID and stopping the panel initialization. I had it happen to me and had me stumped big time. Had to RMA my Viewsonic VP201's twice to get it all sorted.
kinkladze10 Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 well sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt the screen detects when something is plugged in and it was working fine before I've tried it on another screen which only has anolgue input/outputs but same issue so can rule out screen I think going to try a standard pci card in the standard pci slot and see what happens then looking bigtime like a rma motherboard issue
