ok, the new bios 824: works better for me than 705. better overclock (not twiked yet!) 306X10 for now. runs super pi 32Mb two instances simultaneously for 26 min. each. the memory is on cas3 and 2T for now. i don't use the prime95. memory in the oranges. voltage is on 1.800v in bios cpu-z reports it as 1.648v., 1.616v under full load. the temperatures are very close to realistic - speed fan reports -23C in the core and the temp. on the evaporator is -47C. 0C - +2C in the core under full load and -37C on the evaporator. it looks to me that this bios is optimized for E6 cores. the proper mem deviders are present. no cold boots.

Guest cisco kid

I had this board working well. I have some questions may be I can get some feedback from those running a 3800X2

I have 2x512 OCZ 3700EB in the yellow dimms. I read this was best then I see others in the orange, which is F'in correct and better. Second I had my 2 sata Raptor drives on ports 3and 4 as I saw thiese are suppose to be locked. Well anyways on these ports running a dual boot OS on one of the Raptors XP 64 and XP Pro I was having issues.

I had to sell off my Aopen 12x DVDRW because the board just did not like it I narrowed it down that on an XP 64 install it would ask for files on the cd, soon as a different drive put in the install would go from start to finish no issues.

I have had some issues on the 711 bios where I make changes and I get no boot, I go in after a reset when it finally boots and mem is at 269.

Anyways I have it running now with a .1 increase on vcore and ram set ay 2.7 all mem settings are auto , I have 1T timing working at 220fsb. I set the HTT to 5x and I have issues with booting, currently it is at 4x.

Can anyone point out some changes I may want to make I have not upped the fsb any further as I am sick of the number of reboots and honestly the amount of utterly wasted time. I am almost ready to just punt this board and find another AGP based board. When I thinnk of it my Asus A8V Deluxe v2 was a godsend compared to this. I have spent time reading all the sticky info on mem timing but it has not seemed to work. Last agp is set at 66. I figure I have it working and will continue to push fsb until I have no luck then reduce multi , I know should be the other way around but this works as well

Thos who think they are pros fire away with suggestions, I thought I was till I got this board

Hey hey, I'm back!!!

The teacher let me come out of the corner, heh...

I want to comment on the new bios but first I want to update mein status.

I'm the proud owner of a brand spankin new Dfi LP Nf4 Sli-DR top of the line

wiz bang boom, cary case an all.... wowza!!! Bought from the eggman at

a relatively cheap price (they must be coming out with something better soon,

eh?). The good news is NCIX was kind enough to credit my visa 100% refund

after 3-1/2 months (if you want to go this route, start complaining slowly, then

build up to threats. No, NCIX is a class org. If you purchaced from less reputable,

.... eeee, this will still work..... go for it!!! Be sure to mention "you sold me a board

that is known defective, and anybody still selling it is worthy of notification of the

Attorney Generals office of your state).

Same hardware on this new board as in my sig. man o man o man, this board

is totally on a different level. I did spring for a 850xt pci3 marshmellow heater

though at the egg.

I managed to get my Patriot XBLK's up to 315 fsb. I learned alot about these

mobos and ram timings. Some phenominal 8k in Sandra and 3700 write in Everest.

Hot baby hot.

So much for my blowhard ., I been keeping up with you guys in my exile.

You can sense a bone thrown out with the 824. Looks like its the 815 (maybe

a small bios tweek). A new bios was requested though.

Heres the deal, any smart enthusiast always has multiple machines to cushion

the financial blow when they upgrade (hey upgrade means spend money and

thats it, jeez). The prices are falling on dfi's nf4's AND on ATI's top of the line's.

Why? Cause Ati is about to announce a major gpu release, and Nvidia is about

to do the same. At the egg, the prices are steadily dropping by the day.

Watch out for those things consumers!!! Read tech news...

Get out from this board, but get out in a vertical direction. Don't hang on because

of that Agp card which is worth dirt. I know its expensive to go pcie BUT

you could buy bottom of the line Nf4 and bottom of the line pcie graph's and

still be a hundred times better off than with any Nf3....... period!!!!

And close to the same cost as this mobo bought new. Just force those retailers

to give you a complete credit. They know its defective, its not a MALFUNCTION.

Lose it, go to Nf4.

I love this board, love it. Its unbelivable. And a msg to AG and RG:

I know more than you if I'm gunshot in my head <-- thats for puting me on

probation on a bogus "sig" thing....

Im extremely happy with the performance and stability of this NF3 and my *worthless* X800XTPE also performs extremely well on this NF3. You stick to your NF4, at least you will be able type . 100 times faster now.

Lucky, thats a baddass card the X800XTPE. It costs as much as the 850xt !!

I read all the benches at Tom's, its as good or better....... jeez, I see your

reticence.

Listen, I'm not putting anybodys rig down. The mobo is the "cheap" thing here.

Maybe someone will come up with a AGP->PCI-E converter!

I keep a buffer of machines that are used by my family, everything is recycled

when an upgrade happens. Nothing gets wasted. Its a business when it involves

tens of thousands of dollars in a life long upgrade sequence that never stops.

Sorry man....

There's only one defect here. There are people using the board without problems. If the board is defective how do you explain that ?

If you've had a bad experience that's fine but I get annoyed at you constantly claiming the board is defective when i've had no problems with it for months and months.

You constantly doing that just brings me to the conclusion that you are a kid who doesn't know what he's doing.

Np's dude. I know your not putting other peeps rigs down, but your enthusiasm for the NF4 has led you to make false claims. I can sympothise with you on having a bad NF3 UD, many have, but some of us have been fortunate enough to strike a good m/b. I just get upset when i see words that can turn people away from what could be the best platform for agp. Why would any1 buy NF4 now that the CrossFire is so close, particulary if you own an adequate agp vga. For some people this NF3 may bridge the gap till we see some R520 action on the RX480.

I fought with 824 for half an hour last night and couldn't boot into windows without a BSOD, something along the lines of PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (maybe PNF)and had to go back to 711. Basically the login screen would come up and BANG, BSOD, even when I tried safe mode.

Can anybody tell me why I can't use the 5x HTT multi at stock? Seems when I hit 1000 the system will boot but then windows locks within 1 minute. Even 250x4 locks it. I had hoped maybe this was something corrected in 824, but I couldn't get that to work at all.

Sounds More like its starving for power.. What voltages are you using? And pc2700.. Man if you can hit Even close to 250HTT(if you are running 1:1) thats a H_ll of a memory overclock

.And as far as The 5xLTD/FSb You arent going to notice any performance gain . Form 4X to 5X.. as long as you are in the 700 to 1000 range you wont realy have a noticeable difference.

Just a suggestion would be to look at voltages.. and measure you 12v,5v,3.3v. rails with a DVM at the socket and not in the BIOS
