DFI NF4 BIOS Memory Guide

I've been working an OC of a venice lately. Here are my results but I need some help.

 

260 x 10 @ 1.53v according to cpuz

Ldt 3x

tccd 3-4-4-8 @ 2.9v

all other voltages stock.

temps 40c after 17hours of prime95

 

So all is pretty good at this point. So heres my question.

 

My memory can take 315 fsb at same timings and voltage so I tried droping the multi down to 8.5 x 300fsb. but I never get past the cmos check. when I drop themulti even more to like 6 I can get into windows and prime for as long as I let it run which was like an hour. Not sure if it'll do more.

 

What do I need to do if I want 300-315fsb x 8.5. I've even tried losening the timmings.

 

The cpu runs at 2.6 and the mem runs up to 315fsb stable seperately but I can't get these numbers to meet and run together.

 

The mobo is dfi nforce4 ultra

 

As far as I know 1/2 multis do not work----at all....

 

Go up to Multi 9 and try for an FSB around 280-290

This is as high as I could get after 2 hours of MemTest. I am wondering what I could change to get to 275mHz. Memtest does fine until Tests 4 and 5 at 275MHz. I know I can go to 10x or even 9x multi, but I want a higher CPU clock.

 

I also have some all copper Vantec RAM covers, and I was wondering if that might help.

 

Any suggestions?

I'm thinking that since you are on water-----you should be able to get to between 2.8 - 2.9 fairly easily.

 

And your timings look loose enough

 

To get your CPU higher----you are going to have to up your Voltage

 

Try 1.350 and 123% which I think will give you around 1.65 Vcore. Shouldn't bother the chip at all since you are on water. I'm on 1.64 VCORE on air with no problems.

 

I don't know if you'll hit 275 x 11----but I'm thinking a nice, stable 2.9 CPU overclock is entirely doable----that's a decent overclock for a 2.2 mghtz chip and not bad at all for a noob....

 

You related to the real Woz????

THank you, and I were related to the real Woz, I wouldn't be using Windows. :) I am a Mac user that wanted to learn something new, and it is very fun overclocking. Learning from the bottom is very time consuming and frustrating. I will try to up the CPU Voltage, and see what I get.

Here is the new overclock after CPU Voltage Increase.

 

My temperatures are:

CPU: 41-43 C

PWM Area: 68 C

ChipSet: 54 C

 

Are these temperatures alright?

 

These are after running MemTest86 v1.55.

Much better....

 

Your A64 tweaker screen shot is all wrong----but CPU-z is showing a pretty nice overclock.

 

PWM is high

CPU is fine

Chipset looks a little high as well.

 

Airflow is everything.....I have a fan over the Mosfets (PWM) and my big 120 x 38 fan sits on my xp-120 Heat Sink----but it also blows air on the RAM

If you are running your RAM below 3.2 VDIMM then you don't have to worry about the mosfet up in the upper right corner as it is for when you are running your RAM higher than 3.2 and off the 5V Rail

Just run cpu-z b4 you open A64 tweaker and it will read your current settings.

 

That is showing like max default values I think

Im getting nuts by now with my Geil Ultra pc4000 (Hynix BT-D43)

Im fully stable at 275Htt 2.5-4-3-6 but @ 278 got prime problems.

 

At screenshot youll see.

 

I dont even know tell how frustrated i am cuz my english at tech terms sox :P

 

But, my question is about its MAX frec.

 

Even at my test session to get MAX RAM frec with multi drop to 7, LDT to 3 and etc, to get my max ram frec......this ram could not pass 260Mhz at 2.5-4-4.7 @ 3.2vts.

Anyway......by now im quite dissapointed about this.....could not pass even at your stock Frec with a little (very litte tweak)

 

AT 275 HTT CPU/10 (247 MHZ) was stable (about 8 hours of prime)

 

Anyway.....can you help me y some way?

 

(I was specting 280 RAM FREC......but i cant get 262 :S)

I have that Hynix RAM in another rig. It is rated to go to DDR 500 at 2.5,4,4,7------and I found it just wouldn't go a lot higher than that at all.

 

You are getting very close to that----maybe a bit above.

 

Sorry to tell you the bad news-----but you may not get any more.
