red930 Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 I have one running on my testbench right now and it is phenominal. I had it installed in my nF3 rig with a total of 11 hard drives hanging off of it. Solid as a rock. The rear green LED fan is louder than the ModStream series and my Fortron Blue Storm. But they can't do what the PowerStream 600 does. Great PSU! davidhammock200 Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 Of course for $229 you could get the PC P&C 510 SLI. http://www.pcpowercooling.com/home.htm
mucker Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Both are great PSU's. Make sure to install an auxillary cooling fan to blow on the bearings of your outdoor power meter disk m
plw321 Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I purchased the SeaSonics because of 80% efficiency and quite ride. I willing to give it up to take the PSU out of the equation.
Vista Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Seasonics have been well rated and many people have no problems with the 500 and 600w versions on the SLI-DR. I almost got a S12-500 but decided the Enermax 600 had a bit more headroom and nicer/longer cables for my case. In retrospect, I would have been fine with the S12-500 or S12-600 as well. plw321 Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 Here's what is happening. We (my son and I) have never been able to game on this rig. We are having screen lockups and reboots. The fingers were pointed at the psu. I then moved from a seasonic 400 to a seasonic 500. I still have the same thing happening. It's not a temp thing the cpu is runing 32, 34. The other temps are 43 46. We aren't overclocking or anything like that because we don't even know how. We just wanta game. Thanks for your help. Vista Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 I hear you about just wanting to get it gaming! Those temps look fine. People are going to point fingers at your Corsair Value RAM next. With some loose DRAM settings you might get it to go with some OC.
red930 Posted May 9, 2005 Posted May 9, 2005 We are having screen lockups and reboots. Here's the bad thing that happened. Your OS was crashing causing all sorts of problems with the install. You got a new PSU but were still using the same OS install that by now was suspect at best. Get your BIOS date, voltages and other info added to your sig so we can get some more detail. If you are having OS crashes like that, it's time to start from scratch again. Read and follow the stickies at the top of the forum. Qualify your RAM using memtest one stick at a time then in pairs. Follow Ed Jacobson's guide to setup the rig. I have a feeling that a clean install will resolve your problems if the hardware checks out OK.
