510kut Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 The Seasonic 600W is on sale at ewiz for 106 atm http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-S12-600&c=pw I dunno should I get it? Since I don't have my other parts yet, and let it sit around for a few weeks until I start ordering my other stuff? Or should I holdoff and hope the prices are still the same in a few weeks? red930 Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 Additionally, you have to take the quality of the review into account. None of the reviews you linked are very thorough. They spend pages talking about the cables and design of the enclosure but very little about the stability of the unit. You can have a really pretty PSU with lots of nice cables that is abosolutely crap. How does the unit hold up under varying loads? Are the 12V rails going to hold up if the 5V rail is lightly loaded? So far none of these reviews has properly tested a ThermalTake PSU and given it a passing grade. The argument I was given is that TT pays those reviewers for good reviews
Angry_Games Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 as much as i dislike Tom's Hardware Guide, I do read it occassionally http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/20050711/index.html recent psu testing: http://www17.tomshardware.com/howto/20050228/index.html older psu testing: http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/20021021/index.html now i dont live and die by one place such as this...but I add what i read (after checking their testing routines) to other stuff that I read and then try one out for myself. Diverge Posted July 23, 2005 Posted July 23, 2005 The Seasonic 600W is on sale at ewiz for 106 atm http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=PS-S12-600&c=pw I dunno should I get it? Since I don't have my other parts yet, and let it sit around for a few weeks until I start ordering my other stuff? Or should I holdoff and hope the prices are still the same in a few weeks? After much thought throughtout the week, seeing your post reminded me about that cheap price (found it myself today), I just ordered mine. I never did bussiness with ewiz before, so i hope it works out okay I recently built my new lab PC at work, and used a seaonic 500W. i really like the quality, efficiency (80%), good reviews and it's also quiet. Newegg sells these for $161... it kinda seesms too cheap, i hope it isn't like some older revision or some sort
