DFI Recommended Power Supplies (UPDATED October 20th, 2006!)

Recommended Posts

Looks cleaner. Good to see you David.

Don't see the FSP AX450 on the list anywhere though. I love that PSU..

You don't see the ModStream 450W or the PC P&C 470W either,

as DFI requires a minimum rating of 480W for all N4 & newer mobos.

It is good to see you too!

Dave

I have a question.

here are my specs

AMD 939 4800

DFI LanParty UT RDX200

1 1900XTX 512mb

1gb (2x512) corsair value select memory

1 IDE DVD RW

1 IDE WD200

4 80mm fans

now i've tried using an antec 430neo HE, and the system wouldnt even boot up, then i tried the video card in this system

AMD 939 3800

2gb of corsair xms memory

A8N-VM CSM

1 sata WD300

1 dvdrw

FSP Group SAGA 450W ATX

and it worked fine

so i figured ok my neo430 isnt enough (this is before i found this thread) so i took my friends FSP Group SAGA 450W ATX and then put it in my system and it takes 20 minutes to go from boot screen to windows setup, then windows setup tells me that there is no harddrive when bios clearly sees it.

so i know its not enough power, but ive got my hands on a

PC P&C 470 silencer and wondering if it will work.

thanks for your help.

The PC P&C 470W should/may work, however it is only [email protected], so it too is a little light.

Check the PSU Guide for details.

Good Luck,

Dave

Well bad news, it didn’t work

However, I saw on the recommended list the Fortron 550W FSP550-60PLN but the 12V is only @ 18A I thought the minimum was 26A like my PC P&C?

I started looking at the Fortron bluestorm 500 that also has the 8pin plug that my motherboard has... but its 12V line is only @ 15A at max load.

So confused?!?!

It probably has two 12v rails, so add those together to get the total amperage available.

You should probably get a sig in order soon man. ;)

Ok got my sig up, I'll get the bluestorm from work, and see how it goes. Thanks!
DFI LanParty UT RDX200

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Toledo

1gb (2x512) PC3200 Corsair value select

ATI 1900XTX 512mb

1 WD2000JB

1 Aopen DVDRW

Lian Li PC-7USB

With an OC'ed X2 & a 1900XTX, I believe something like a OCZ PowerStream 520 or an Exermax 600W is going to be about the min.

Of course a OCZ GXS 600W or 700W would be ideal!

Good Luck,

Dave

The chip isn’t OC'ed but I understand what you're saying. the OCZ Powerstream and Enermax 600s are a bit out of this months budget, I will try and see if the Bluestorm does the job, if so hooray, if not, Powerstream it is. Thanks for your help
