w3bbo Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 So its a dud PSU Can't understand why it will boot after a cmos clear and not at other times:confused: Ah well time for another new psu, I'll RMA this and keep as a spare. Which PSU is gonna be AMDx2 and conroe compatible? I was looking at the Sparkle FSP Epsilon 700w - £110. Are these the same as the OCZ powerstream? You probably meant and I think lowboy also referred to OCZ gamexstream (very similar, nearly identical to FSP Epsilon).
yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 not nearrly... it is the same, OCZ GameXstream is a FSP Epsilon. they only change the fan and do more lab tests. its from FSP

Whether those differences will have any influence is another question. Therefore I stated "nearly".
yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 well, never heard of that one before, but if you say so, i'd be happy to see that post, link me if you may if you happen to see it again, in either way, getting FSP or OCZ is the same, we'll debat if exatcly or nearly later

It's to be found in this very same thread: post # 1451 and onwards.
yfital Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 hmm, read it a bit, well, about cabling, i cant argue, as for the AMPs he mentioned, as i had a long talk with ocz reps about this, trust me, they are both 15, but more then capable of 18... dont have the strength to give you the whole bull crap they wrote, but in short, its rated 18a, even though FSP rate it 15... its just because they gave it more tests and decided its 18... ah nevermind, dont wanna go to that talk again, it was sooooooo confusing @_@
red930 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 There are functional differences between the OCZ and the FPS/Sparkle branded units. The OCZ units are built to OCZ specs on the production line alone using OCZ spec parts. If you were to open the two units you would see the differences which are many and obvious. BUT! I have both the Fortron and OCZ units in my lab and they are both extremely solid performers. Both passed my "hard drive hang test(11 hard drives at once)". Since I use them in my retail business I stake my reputation on them every time they go into a customers rig.
