Watercooling is it anygood

Recommended Posts

invested after much deliberation in a full dangerden 1/2" kit - hmmmmmm - not very impressed - my main reason for doing it was for sound (i.e. to lower pc noise) - but that darn pump makes soo much noise (Eheim 1250 - supposed to be one of the quietest) and ontop of all that - The chipset fan is in a bad place for mounting a waterblock.

Its a matter of personal choice - personally - I dont think the extra £300 was worth it - would have probably been better off with another SLI card :>

Well im currently trying for 260*10 or 287*9 but it isnt stable at voltages upto 1.79. The twinmos UTT/CH5 passes memtest @260 for hours so its not that. So is it worth getting some watercooling and what sorts of voltages am I going to be able to push.

If Ure allready at1.8V U should only expect slightly more stability. On the otherhand getting a Phasechange cooling solution Ull B rockin...

Just out of curiosity what sorts of voltages will I be able to push at using phase as Im thinking water isnt for me.

I am running an entire line of Danger Den products... all 1/2" compatable,... I am running the DD4 pump (a little stronger than the Swiftech 650) which runs very very quiet in my opinion. I am using the Black Ice Micro (Dual 80mm Radiator) with 4 fans on the radiator (2 pushing, 2 pulling), a Danger Den RBX CPU block, and a typhoon reservoir)...

Now I know this sounds bad, but I accidently set my vcore to 1.9V (1.550 * 123%) which read as 1.86V in the bios... I ran this for 8 hours before realizing what I had done... and dropped to 1.425 * 123%... was running at 292FSB with a 9 multi... my temps were idle at 28*C and load at 38*C and never higher, even during my mistake...

God bless Danger Den...

you wont get the crazy voltages like you will with phase-change/subzero cooling...but you can usually get a little more voltage/overclock without any trouble with watercooling...not weak watercooling (and no offense, but those $100 kits are just not what you want for overclocking...good air cooling is better than those things).

my preference is Danger Den watercooling with their TDX copper cpu blocks, Maze4 GPU blocks, Black Ice Extreme radiators, etc.

If you really want to talk to someone that is a master of watercooling, pm CPU Killer, or email me for his email address (email link in my sig). He works for Danger Den, and really knows his stuff.

there are other decent watercooling options out there, but i prefer Danger Den because I feel they make the best blocks, and because they have EXCELLENT customer service/support ;)

I'm not saying my water cooling setup is anywhere close to achieving the same results as Danger Den setups or the like, but I think my GPU/CPU overclocks and temps are pretty good for a hundred bucks. I'm not even using the second design of this particular setup, which has a more powerful water pump.

I can't think of any other kit that includes both a GPU and CPU waterblock and dual rads for the price.
