Capt Proton Posted May 1, 2005 I am having a problem with this new board in that it hangs when loading windows if I have both sticks of memory in. I've tried 1 & 2 and 1 & 3. Seems to work fine with one stick. The bios tells me on boot up that both sticks are set at 400 DDR, even though it is advertised as a problem and that they shpuld only boot at 333 DDR with Auto set in the bios. Bios version 4.52 Had this memory in my MSI K8T Neo FIS2R and it worked very well. No errors or instability.
psy^ Posted May 1, 2005 Those TCCD chips can be a pain to get stable sometimes. Try these settings, and see if it helps: The settings Vddr: 2.8v TCL: 2.5 Trcd: 03 Tras: 07 Trp: 03 Trc: 07 TrFc: 14 Trrd: 03 Twr: 02 Twrt: 02 Trwt: 02 Tref: 4078 Twcl: 01 Skew: Increase 255 Drive Strength: 2 Max. async: 7ns Preamble: 5ns R/w Bypass: 16x Bypass: 7x 32B granuarity: Disable If the settings above are not stable with your memory, you can change some "fine tune" settings here: Vddr: 2.8v to 2.9v TCL: 2.5 Trcd: 03 Tras: 07 Trp: 03 Trc: 07 TrFc: 14 Trrd: 03 Twr: 02 to 03 Twrt: 02 Trwt: 02 to 03 Tref: 4078 Twcl: 01 Skew: Increase 255 Drive Strength: 2 Leave this at 2, higher is too much for TCCD Max. async: 7ns to 8ns Preamble: 5ns R/w Bypass: 16x to 8x Bypass: 7x to 4x 32B granuarity: Disable Thanks to whoever originally posted those, it's been the most useful copy and paste ever
Capt Proton Posted May 1, 2005 Not sure these are TCCD Chips. It's not Rev 2. If I have to go to those sorts of timings, this isn't the board for me. Why spend all that money and then have to go with such loose timings? I do have rev 2 on the way. Maybe that will make a difference. This is one spooky board so far. I have other issues, but I'll post separately.
