jec Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 After running prime95 on my newly built computer for the first time, i got a rounding error within minutes. So, i ran the memtest86 and got an error as well. I am running the ultra d mobo with a 3500+ newcastsle and no overclocks. Could the errors be becasue i moved the single ram from the yellow slot to the orange slot recently? Or do the errors mean that my memory (Kingston ValueRam 1gb) is physically damaged?
Frallan Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Confirm the sticks 1 and 1 in SC. Run them past Memtest a couple of hours per stick. I they can do that in SC its not the Memory. Then either RMA or report back (do that any way pls) so we can give U some more things to check
red930 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Value RAM, feh! Try one of the newer BIOSes. People that were having trouble with qualifying RAM are getting better results with the new revisions. Take a look at this thread... http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...04&postcount=49 Lots of good info.

jec Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Angry, what would you suggest for a replacement ram that will solve this prime95 error?
Angry_Games Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 lol...oh man...look around at everyone's sigs...here and in the AMD Overclocking section...see what they have then look and see that we have 5 company reps from 3 different memory companies here... OCZ (AndyOCZ/RyderOCZ/OCZTony) Buffalo (memoryman) Crucial/Ballistix (CrucialLabs) personally I love anything with BH-5. TCCD and I do not get along very well. Most everyone else can get TCCD to crank out some serious clocks. I use BH-5 with a 3500+ or better cpu to get those clocks. so many different good memories and memory types and ways to get to the end result...reading and research are your two most POWAful tools
jec Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Angry, i read the previous post on ocz plat. rev. 2 memory and someone said that a bad psu can cause a memory error. Should I change the psu to a ocz powerstream 520w first or upgrade the ram? Also, am i the only one with the prime 95 error? Is this common? (A ram rma is on its way) -jec
Angry_Games Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 ive never heard of athena...i would get a name brand power supply like OCZ, Fortron, Enermax, Skyhawk that users here have and know that it works well: PSU Poll Thread: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7952 i doubt there is anything wrong with your cpu your VALUE ram is known to know work at all (lucky you can boot up without BSOD's) your PSU is probably not really a true 500w....but it might be, who knows (never having heard of the place)
