Gear Junkie Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 What exactly does it mean when people say that Winnies have "Weak Memory Controllers?" Does this refer that you can only push the HTT so far? Or does it mean that if you run it at 300HTT, that the CPU will crap out after a certain period of time? Just looking for some clarification...Thanks! Smoken Joe Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 You can often run high HTT or high CPU speed not both. Some of the winnies dont like to play with some memory also or with more than 2 sticks. That is my understanding.
pershoot Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 a 'weak' memory controller is a memory controller which will not tolerate high mem. freq./1:1 HTT, stable. for a roundabout example: being stuck at 230-240, knowing your memory can do 250-260. mucker Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Supposedly it's just with a certain range of the 05xx CBBID processors. The earlier ones have done much better, like Mastakilla's 0450 which was a good week, much like a fine year of wine... m

mucker Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I thought you might have had one of the good ones, I heard 0448, somewhere there abouts, were pretty good.... m
Frallan Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 My 0450 is in the middle. I can run 305MHz FSB without a problem but as soon as I hit 2440MHz (independently of FSB & multi) my memcontroller craps out. I get Memory issues in DC. In SC I can go way better. Vista Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 My sig settings are looking pretty stable (fingers crossed). Ah, I can't wait to see what summer will do to everyone's stability in the northern hemisphere!
