Cannot install windows to ultra-d

Recommended Posts

when booting xp from cdrom the very first screen (before press f6 blabla) says "windows is checking your hardware config" and it never gets any farther. i had this prob a couple weeks ago and a dfi tech solved it -

clear cmos

put 1 stick ram in first orange slot down from top

load optimized defaults

reboot into bios

set cpc to disable, set dram voltage to 2.8

reboot.

this worked.

tried same thing now, getting original problem.

i have tried

1/25,3/10,3/10-p bios

pqi turbo, g.skill la, corsair pc3200 v1.1

few cd drives

few copies xp

several hard drives, sata, pata

removed all usb

swapped psu

all vdimm from 2.5 to 3.5

vdimm jumper both positions

3200+, 3500+

other orange dimm slot

x850xt and 6600gt

nothing connected except for keyboard, cdrom. hdd, vid card, 1 stick ram/ in and out of case

i really dont want to rma this board. i dont have another s939 board here anymore. also this would make 100% dfi products i have owned that malfunctioned and had to be rma'd. any help appreciated. thanx

very truly yours,

politenessman

Break it down to 'only' just what is needed to install windows. No extra drives, not more than one stick, nothing on in bios like usb or firewire or sound and so forth and clear cmos the official way before starting and then load optimized > Yes> and then go and up the voltage to the memory to 2.8V or so and the vCore some and LDT and chipset a little as well and see if you can install.
