cronocrash Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 So it looks like a person could save a bundle by getting factory refurbs. Does anyone have experience with them? Im lookin at monitors, mobos, and video cards at newegg. If the stuff is prolly gonna be in good operating condition I'll get it. I know angry said that refurbs of DFI boards were available, do they have the same quality/overclockability?? ty
Angry_Games Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 newegg has refurbs you only get the board...nothing else usually you only get a 90 day warranty if you think you want to skimp on spending some money....don't. Got to have it now? http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showpost.p...427&postcount=
cronocrash Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Well, it is not that i want to skimp. Im more or less just curious. If I can save money i would like to. I am kinda wary about the overall quality of refurbs. Maybe i would get refurbs if i had a rig that i could test them on. So maybe for my next puter heh. It really seems like the nf4 sli-dr is pretty picky, so i dun wanna chance it. 90 day manufacturers warantee?
Angry_Games Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 saving money when you purchasing top-of-the-line equipment is never a good idea. im quite sure our refurbs are just as good as a retail...most refurbs are simply boards that were RMA'd but had absolutely nothing wrong with them (user error lol) but the difference between 90 day warranty and 3 year warranty is pretty big plus you dont have to purcahse IDE cables, I/O shield, sata cables, pin/bios puller tool etc that all comes with the retail box. Alexia Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I bought a refurbished video card from Newegg. They test them and if they "work" then they become a refurbished product. The thing ended up having funky issues outside of the warranty. More like they test the product to see if it powers on.
crodan85 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I got a msi kt6 board for 30usd at dabs in the uk and I havent ever had any probs but that was for a cheap skt a board while i was waiting for the dfi one to come out. I wouldnt buy a TFT,Case or a graphics card but apart from that I can not think of any reason not to buy if cash is limited. cronocrash Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 i guess like nething there will be succes and failure stories. heh. i was really tempted by the BFG 6800gts that are refurbed on newegg. sooo cheap, i could definetely tolerate owning two of those. if i had a test rig i'd def get them, and test them. THunDA Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I wouldnt buy refurbs either.. I do on the other hand buy used pc stuff from classifieds in forums.. But this is always from well known and respected members with good references. Ive never had a problem that way..
