What do think about the PSU with a NF-4 Ulra-D & anyone have this

Recommended Posts

Am waiting to recive my DFI NF4 ultra-D,i wanted to ask about the PSU i have if anyone know anything about it:

IT's HEC 450W,24Pin,3.3v=30A ,5v=28A,12v1=17A & 12V2=15A so 12V total=32A

now my system will be:

Winchister 3000+ with standard HSF.

NF4 Ultra-D

2 stick of 512MB DDR400(2.6v)

1 WesternD HDD 80GB

1 Asus CD-RW

1 MSI 6600GT

1 56K modem

i don't use case fans or floppy or any other thing inside me case so do u think this power can handle my system??

also i found this power supply recommended by Intel on Intel Website for thier latest Pentium4's also i tried it on a friends machine with a system like mine but with a MSI K8n Neo4 SLI platinum mobo & water cooling ;) & 3200+ winchester & it was running stable & the mobo read the volts rock solid at : 3.3v=3.35,5v=5.1,12v=12.10??

so what do u think guys???

Minumum PSU for the Ultra-D is 480w. Also, dont go with generic brands -- Sometimes even if theyre 500w they still dont work.

Fortron Blue Storm 500w is a pretty good PSU

so is the OCZ Powerstream or Modstream series.

Whatever you do, do NOT cheap out on a PSU. You will run into lots of stability problems

EDIT-No fans? oye--dont complain if your system overheats a lot.

the HEC is not a generic PSU,it's just not well known brand as the other's http://www.hec-group.com.tw/global.asp also as i told u i found it on Intel website as one of the recommend PSU's,i don't think they gonna put any generic PSU's??also it's very heavy when holding it in ur hands.

i don't need any fans, coz i always leave my case opened from it's side & there's an ordinary home/desktop large fan blowing inside my case that's keeps my temps very low while using air cooling,my NF7-S nforce2 Ultra running at over 200FSB is always under 25degree.

A couple of points here CosmicOne!

Read the stickies at the top of the forum to make sure you understand the power supply requirements. One of the first things we look at is the PSU to make sure it meets requirements. As you can see AG has posted the link. Look at the sigs of people that are happy with their system.

Take a look at the Hitachi 80GB SATA II drives. They offer improved throughput since the nF4 SATA controller supports SATA II drives. The egg has then for about $65.00.

NEC has a killer CD/DVD burner that's dirt cheap. Look for the ND-3520a.

Save up and get the 3200 Winchester 90nm chip. The higher multiplier will help if you decide to OC later. I get very low temps at stock speeds with an XP-90 from Thermalright.
