IDE Raid-0 Issue on UT-250

Recommended Posts

I've been running a 80gb and 120gb drive in raid-0 for some time now. I recently purchased another 80gb drive, and figured I would make my 120gb drive into a storage drive. I'm having a slight issue though, I have it setup like this:

Primary Master - 80gb (ide raid enabled)

Primary Slave - 120gb

Secondary Master - 80gb (ide raid enabled)

Secondary Slave - DVD Writer

If I let the bios automatically detect the 120gb drive, it hangs on the post screen for a really long time, then finally continues to boot. It also takes a very long time to enter the bios. I have tried using Primary, and Extended particians, but the same thing happens. I've come to the conclusion to just not let the bios detect it, and then it works fine. Windows has no issues at all with doing this, I just have to set it to Ultra DMA 5 manually in the device manager.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I don't understand why the bios is acting so funny. I've benched the raid array and the 120gb drive and everything appears to be working perfect. Well, except windows says my 120gb is drive 0, and Nividia stripe is drive 1. If possible I would like it the other way around.

Great forums btw, I been reading here since I purchased my DFI back in January, finally got to post something. :)
