HD problem, please help

Recommended Posts

My secondary drive is causing me problems.

There is nothing i want saved on it now, i just want to delete it, but i can't.

I tryed partition magic 8, i say format and it doesn't, says there's an error and stops.

Also tryed formatting in Admin tools, it got to 100% then said errors and it didn't do it.

Anyone got any ideas?

unplug your boot drive, boot up with Win98 or WinXP install cd, delete the partition, then create a new partition (if win98, you can then format, if WinXP, just leave it with a partition and no format, then plug in your boot drive, check bios to make sure hdd boot order is correct, then when you get to windows, use the Admin Control Panel to format the secondary drive)

the reason you cannot do anything like this within windows is because as soon as windows sees a formatted drive (or any drive already formatted and is with or without data on it) it immediately counts the drive, puts files on it, and locks those files (those files are either System Restore files, certain library files, System Volume Information files, etc)

ps if you have your swap file on the secondary drive, make sure you change it back to your boot drive first or you will have a serious problem lol

wow kickazz rig.

Not sure I understand. two seperate Hard Drives?

Or two partitions on same Hard Drive? (Think that's what you mean)

What brand, model, and type? Sounds like something on "D" drive (secondary) is needed by "C" drive (primary).
