Must read info on Memory Clock vs. Latency/Timings

Recommended Posts

from Anandtech forums. i posted a link to this (the bottom bolded link) in a Ballistix thread in the Overclocking forum, but i thought a more general link would be informative for folks.

basically running Async with tighter timings can improve performance over loose timings just to run 1:1 . . . or don't hold your overall OC back because you're having trouble running your memory 1:1.

More proof Athlon 64's love low latency.

Here is a techreport test of Dual Core Opteron 175 (2.2) vs. Two Opteron 248's (also 2.2)

The 248's have double the memory bandwidth over the dual core 175 but the 248's lose every real world test due to 175's incredible LL between each other being situated so close.

This is the original thread w/ some test results on A64 http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.as...75190&forumid=1
