Rudzer Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Ok I must admit i'm already getting sick of this specialy considering the money I invested in what doesn't seem to be a worthy upgrade. I have the following hardware on the affected pc: Athlon 64 3000+ (s939) Zalman CNPS7000B-Cu DFI Lanparty nforce4 ULTRA 2x512MB PC3200 Samsung tccd Fonte Chieftec 420w Albatron Geforce6600GT 128MB PCI-E + Zalman VF700 ALCU Pioneer DVR-108 DVDRW Disco 160GB Hitachi 8MB SATA Disco 200GB Seagate 8MB SATA The problem: well cpu use goes up to 100% on what seem random ocasions that involve using the disks...like I open a movie and explorer goes up to 100% cpu usage and the pc crawls crawls... I already did the following: - runned memtest without any errors whatsoever - run spinrite on the hard-drives...no problems - prime runs without any problems also - can play as much as I want (different games) Any ideas? BTW already tried different nforce drivers, fresh installs, and such... Help is appreciatted :/

Smoken Joe Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Have you run a virus and malware checks to be safe? What programs are you using to watch movies WMP is a real resource hog I like VLC or the classic windows player with updated codecs. I can use VLC even with a ton of background apps even on my old computer. I can run several highly compressed full movies at once on the new one and multi taks so somthing is nt right. Smoken Joe Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Hey guys fill out your sigs. Rudzer I was thinking something outside the windows family. It is very possibile you have some feature enabled or some odd incompatability. Somthing like that I keep installing reinstalling everything untill it comes out right. I am not a big fan of WMP though you nevery really know what version you are using or what codecs with there automatic updates. You might try redownloading the codec pacs too if you use them. Rudzer Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 so the pioneer has a sata dvd burner/player? I didn't think that model was sata sorry. In what way does the pionner relate to anything of what I just said, it doesn't happen when I use/access or anything like that. Plus its set to UDMA.. The drivers 6.53 helped but the system still has some problems explorer wise every now and then...talk about wierd Its great to see my old 3000+ s754 + dfi nforce3 250gb working like a sharm as secundary pc in my home network but this one doesn't...gezz :/
