keerf Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Hey All, I was curious about the XP-120 and was wondering for anyone who owns one (or who knows). Will it cause a problem when mounted with my current memory (Corsair XMS) and with my graphics card (BFG 6800GT). Baslly will I be able to still use the first PCI-E 16x slot and also will I be able to use memory slots 2 & 4 on the board with that cooler mounted. Thanks for any help! Terry You shouldn't have any problems...you will lose the 4x pcie slot but not many people care about that. I've got that cooler and my old Corsair pc3200LL fit under no problems, and my ocz fits under there as well...no worries about installing the cooler first, you should be able to slide the memory under the cooler and install it with no problems. As long as your memory isn't the PRO version with the LED's or the XPERT version with all the readouts, you should be fine. And I've also got a 6800gt with nv silencer and it fits as well....so go for it!
keerf Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Correct me if I am wrong, but the 4x slot is the little slot right at the top correct?
magg Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Why don't you just go for the XP-90? It's smaller, fits better / easier, you don't have to lose anything, and it has a smaller deadspot than the XP-120, so it can actually help cool better in some cases. Cheaper too
drewski Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Correct me if I am wrong, but the 4x slot is the little slot right at the top correct? no! #1 is at the edge of the mobo, #4 is closest to the CPU socket.

drewski Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 no! #1 is at the edge of the mobo, #4 is closest to the CPU socket. i just reread your question. you were asking about the x4 PCI-e slot. then yes, it's the topmost PCI-e one! i thought you were asking about memory slots! Cheaper too Still the XP120 performs a little better and can be quieter with the right fan. The deadspot is not important. What do you think heatpipes are for? red930 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 The XP 120 when used with the correct fan has very little dead spot. i switched from a Sunon 108cfm beast and dropped to a $10 special that puts out 77 cfm and load temps are 3c better.
