DrkSlayer Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 hi all, just wanted to tell everyone that my dfi board is junk. It will not function in any possible way. I've tried a 3500 and a 3200 cpu, with a pci-e radeon x800xl in both slots, along with a pci video card. used separate corsair ram, in all slots, tested ram in another computer successfully, an ocz powerstream 520w-24pin and a x-connect 500w 20pin both with all 4 power connecters plugged in and no other components besides the keyboard and monitor. updated a bios to the 3/10, and swapped them. board revision is r.A00 which i hear shouldn't even be sold in the US. so now I have to rma and sell this, if this was actually a good thing to have, would there be a need for this forum? maybe, but why would so many people list that no matter what they do they can't get a stable boot or even a post? just a note for any potential buyers that are looking for something which looks good in their windowed puters. dfi you need to slow down the rush of production and give time for testing, if its actually that good, you'd score higher in the comparison rating's, not that you don't seem good enough to sucker in people now, have a product that has fewer PO'ed buyers wasting time sending parts around this country, hoping that it just isn't their knowledge (which is vast compared to the 17yr olds now, who don't understand what a real jumper or multi is) The board seems to be very good for ocing and all... when it works.. i'm not busting as hard as I may sound, but I'm so disappointed in this. I've never had a problem with any oem or box cpu/ motherboard ordered before (many), just seems lower quality than the appearance. hopefully its the packaging or some drunk manufacturer . drewski Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 sorry to hear about your troubles. i've had no real issues thus far except for not being able to figure out the nVidia firewall. there seem to be alot of Corsair issues. did you ever try it with another brand of memory? soundx98 Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 Man, we feel for ya. I Been in that position. Ain't no fun at all. But we can try and help if ya want. From your sig you all ready have one overclocked rig so you probably know what you are doing You got good components (not really familiar with corsair) sound pretty knowledgeable in your post. Pizzed, but knowledgeable Board is fussy. Some have startup problems that get sorted out and it runs smooth as silk. Some never have an issue. And some have nightmares. Terrible nightmares. I think I'm reading that it doesn't even post at all. 4 leds - 3 leds. Fans, lights, anything you can tell us. Unstable? Has it ever posted. windows run. problems getting windows to run. Assume you've checked all the stickies (or tried to take it all in). Everyone is in agreement that a rig that you enjoy is the goal here. So tell us a lil more. Maytbe it will be as easy as a new bios chip. We even have some threads on dumb sheet we have done that may help you! http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread...ht=Blank+Screen so I'm not sure. Are you saying that board was not intended for your location. Old or dangerous revision? the possibiltiy of mental and physical collapse is now very real, buy the ticket, take the ride  P.S. Hey, your public profile shows the board as an AAO. which is it?
NEOAethyr Posted April 19, 2005 Posted April 19, 2005 A00 is the orignal taiwan rev I guess. AA0 is the original china ver, I've heard. This is the original bios, so it's defently gonna be hard to startup with the wrong memory, and the bios is buggy in it's self on that ver. The memory voltage can't be set without a bit of hassle on that bios ver btw. If you got the corsair, and plan on keeping it, take off the heatspreaders if possible. Then you'll now what the chips are for absolute sure, hopefully. That could help out alot for you, could be a incompatible stick totally. jtc_hunter Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 It is very sad to hear this. You have my sympathy and I would take Angry Games up on his offer to help you. All I can tell you is my experience. I have built more than 100 computers of all makes and models. Yes I am a compulsive /obesssive and I know it. But it has given me alot of experience so even before my equip. was delivered, I had printed out lots of the stickies from this website on initial setup. I have to say that this was one of the easiest builds I have ever done and if you look at my sig, I have a very respectable OC, about 39%, and this rig is 101% rock stable and is by far the fastest computer I have ever seen. ( Thank you DFI and A.G.)
tristancarton Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 drk, that is no good. as far as fixing the issue. just rma the board back saying it won't work at stock settings and ask for a newer revision. launch of any new product is going to have a few lemons slip by. realize this and just work through it. the dfi board is the best nf4 board out. comparison reviews and overclocking records are testament to that. monsterzero Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 How do you know what board revision you have? Is it printed on the board somewhere?
cpuz Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 How do you know what board revision you have? Is it printed on the board somewhere? Yes, there should be a sticker on one of the bottom pci slots, pasted on the side of it.
